So, I posted backwards, I saw the introduction forum after I posted in another group. Sorry about that.

So, hello! I'm from Oklahoma, I have three kids that are still little-ish (9, 5, and 3). My 5 year old got me into soap, he has severe skin sensitivities. He has ended up with chemical burns or bad rashes or both from everything from laundry detergent to baby wash to diapers. We couldn't let other people hold him, against their clothes his reaction was so bad. So we spent hundreds of dollars to find out that every store brand, skin sensitive or not soap still effected him, tried all the expensive diapers too. Switched to cloth diapers. And ended up looking up how to make my own soap, and was very relieved when 6 weeks later he did not have a rash after his first bath with homemade soap. After that I made laundry detergent and every bar of soap he has used sence. He has out grown most of his skin problems.

And now I'm excited to start adding color and FO to my soap, something I have been waiting a long time to do. So I made cupcakes as one of my first projects with the fun stuff.[emoji1]

Welcome Lizzysoap! I am so glad to hear most of his problems have cleared up, sometimes it is hard to find the answer. Hopefully they never come back and un-fortunately handmade soap is not always the answer. Right now I have had to go back to using Cetaphil Body Wash for washing my hands until they decide to heal again, and yes, laundry detergents can be brutal. Another tricky one is Aveeno Oat Bath it can be horrendous for anyone allergic to using oatmeal topically.

Welcome Lizzy! We have a lot in common. I have 3 kids too. They're adults now but my youngest had severe eczema which is how I got started soaping.

Cmzaha, I was lucky with that first batch, it was mostly lard, with a little bit of CO, avacodo oil, and palm oil, and yeah we still have to avoid Aveeno products. I like making bars of soap, but when I was making bars, laundry detergent, cloth diapering, and nursing him, I thought I was going to lose my mind. Now I am down to just a batch of soap for him once every few months.
Soapaddict415, that's awesome you have adult kids, I keep telling mine that I'm counting down the days till I can go to Mexico for vacation and leave her here, she tells me there is no way after she is 18 that she will keep living here. She is only 9 but I think she has been a teenager since she was six. At that young age I took her to the mall for her birthday and she said "I'm glad we can do this now, because when I'm a teenager this will be lame" kids!

I started the same way years ago when my 11 year old started with skin irritations. She is all cleared up now and she loves to make bathbombs and other fun things with me.

That's awesome, I told my 9 year old, she can make stuff with me next week for the first time, but she has to pass her review in all her subjects. We partially homeschool.
