Can someone help me with ideas for making a golf ball soap? I'd like it to be the exact size with dimples like a golf ball, but I've never done something like this. Do you get a silicone mold:
https://www.amazon.com/Webake-Chocolate-Silicone-12-Cavity-Descorations/dp/B0C991NNFL
and then somehow fuse the 2 halves together?

Or do you do something like this where you pour the whole thing at once:

Anyone have experience with this?
Thanks!

I don't think you'd be able to use the second one with soap batter, you wouldn't be able to pour it into the hole on the top as they do with water in that mold. You could probably make your own one piece silicone mold, or buy one, like this: https://flexiblemolds.com/index.php/product/firemans-badge-soap-candle-mold/. It would be much more expensive and more of a PITA to make your own, if it was me I'd buy it.

Yeah, I did post a link to one like that. Might be an option depending on the size of the pour hole.

Good point, would depend on how thick the batter got I guess. That mold doesn't really have much info on how it's used, ie. the size of the hole at the top, etc...
I haven't tried making golf ball soap specifically, but I've worked with silicone molds for other projects. For a golf ball shape, you might want to go with the first option and use a two-piece mold that you can then fuse together. This way, you can create a more realistic dimpled surface. Just make sure to seal the two halves tightly so the soap doesn't leak out!
I hadn't thought of fusing the 2 mold halves together, I was actually thinking of fusing the 2 soap halves together after popping them out of the molds... I don't know if this is possible or if they would eventually break apart. It's more of a gimmick shape anyway as it wouldn't sit nicely on the counter in the ball shape.

Thanks for the ideas

The holes are <1/2 inch, possibly even 1/4" in the spherical molds I have. I think you could fill one using a squeeze bottle as long as your soap batter was nice and fluid. It also wouldn't be hard to make the holes a little larger. It's a cute idea that I may borrow for soap for my nephews.
