Getting rid of ash

Hi. I had 60+ small soaps made in a fairly intricate mold, which developed ash. I knew steam would sometimes get rid of it but it's a bit time consuming ... So one by one, using tongs, I dipped each into boiling water for no more than a couple seconds and then put on racks to dry. Presto ... Ash is gone completely and the detail in the soap shapes remain.

I used to have the same problem. When I started adding a few percents of beeswax the ash was reduced to nearly nothing.

Thanks for the pointer . I very seldom get ash but I did on this time on these intricate molds (the first time in many many pours) ...
