I want to try a funnel swirl. Can anyone tell me how to do that? I know a funnel in the middle of the loaf mold, then what, alternate colors or pour them together? How thick should the soap be? My first try I alternated colors, and the soap was too thick, I ended up glopping (if this isn't already, it should be a soaping term) it into the molds. I want to try again soon, any advice

Well, that's the beauty of soap! You can do whatever you like and see how it comes out! As long as you don't have to glop, I suppose. I've done colors one at a time and poured two at once. They give different effects. The two at once seems to put a rim of color on one side (the side you poured it on) and one at a time gives you a more distinct band of color. But yes, people set the funnel up to pour in the middle of the mold and you pour whatever pattern suits you. Post some pictures after you're done!

Light to medium trace should work well. You've experienced how it works at a heavy trace (glop).

I just bought a tube of toothpaste so that I can use the box for a funnel!! I plan to cut it down, and fill with gravel from the driveway. Cover in wrapping tape.

I got a good deal; 3 bucks for 2 funnels and they came with free toothpaste!! :D

that sounds like a column swirl not a funnel. a funnel is a plastic triangular shaped container with a tub and a hole in the end.[/img]

Make sure you start at a really thin trace... I alternate colors. I honestly don't love the funnel swirl, it looks kind of boring imo! I swirl it with a stick after doing the funnel to make it look a little more... swirly.... lol

I'm with Krissy, I think you're talking about the column swirl, because I can't imagine how you could make a "funnel" out of a box of rocks...LOL! (and I'm pretty creative 8) ) :D

I am going to try the funnel swirl this morning, green and yellow, fresh cut grass from NG. I will let you know how it goes. Ok now I have to know what a column swirl is???? I might be with Tasha on this and if this one turns out, swirl the next with a stick also. I just want to see how this one looks first.
