I've never made soap before. It looked like fun and I thought my boys and I could make it and sell it together. Now my boys are asleep, it's 5am, I'm alone in the kitchen with "soap" that will not trace. And I'm mad. I've got emu, avocado, coconut and soybean oil going on. I'm using a regular hand mixer bc I couldn't find my stick blender. I went 20 on, then 5 on and 5 off. I want to go to bed. Help!!!!

1. You should never soap with children under 12 in the room. I am not accusing you, mind you, as you did not say the ages of your boys, but if they are under 12, then no.

2. You will not be ready to sell soap for at least a year. Many, many tweaks occur between now and then. Not only of the recipe, but of your understanding of soap.

3. You need to give us the whole recipe in weights before we can troubleshoot.

4. A stickblender, not a hand mixer is the tool that is needed. But we need the whole recipe in weights before we know if that is the only problem.

Naked Soap you post is terrifying, at least to me, making soap with children, and obviously you have no idea what you are doing.

NakedSoap- Susie is right in that we need to know your full recipe. Also where did you get your alkali, is it sodium hydroxide or potassium hydroxide

I have been soaping for several years and still will not let the grandkids in the soaping area. One tiny slip and disaster. Also Emu is a huge waste of money in soap, at least in my humble opinion.
