So I checked the calendar, and we still have time before easter to get cp soaps done! lol

I have a couple ideas, both involving using plastic easter eggs as molds.

First is to make whipped soap and use a spring-y meant-for-kids scent to give my nieces. That I have a pretty good idea of what I want to do (though I haven't picked out the exact FO yet, and will need to purchase it anyways).

My second idea is for soaps to give away at my friends' party. We tend to not take it so seriously, so "zombie eggs" is the perfect idea for them. I just have no idea what to go with for an FO! I'd like something unisex, but I'm utterly clueless as to what makes a scent 'masculine' or 'feminine', on top of being arguably themed for the party.

Anyone else making/planning to make easter-themed soaps?

I was planning on buying a pre-mixed FO from NG. I'm just looking at the descriptions and having no clue! I was thinking maybe an earthy scent with some fruit mixed in... Then I saw their Torrential Rains and thought that might be good, only their description and the reviews say that it's a pain in the butt to CP with!

I might just end up using more of the Spring Rain I have from WSP for my nieces. It's a nice scent, if currently a bit too floral for me. The soap I made with it to test it out has only been curing 1 week, though.

NG actually has a FO called Easter Bunny poop or something. I was looking at it today thinking it would make a cute Easter themed soap. I don't remember if it was described as unisex or not though..

Easter Bunny Burps. :) I saw that too and have been considering it. No clue if I'd like it, though. lol Or how it would go over with kids. I'm sure many others would like it!

They have a whole Easter section, which is where I found the Torrential Rain.

Yes! That's the one! I've looked at so many FOs today I can't keep them straight anymore lol. I went through my wish list and stocked up and went through he task of narrowing down which new ones I wanted to try. I don't know how well it would be received by children either though because if I recall correctly the description of it made it seem like more of an adult thing.

Hmm.. I must have missed the boogieman one.. I do plan on getting monkey farts, reindeer poop and a few others to test out. I figure if nothing else the names will attract people. I know I would have to pick up a bar called monkey farts and give it a sniff lol.

It is odd that they're in the children section when they're described as being more adult-y.. Perhaps you could message NG and they could clear it up some?

Hopefully you'll find the perfect Easter scent though!

This is the description:

[FONT=times new roman, times, serif]Introducing...Natures Garden's Easter Bunny Burps Fragrance Oil! We worked on this fragrance for a long time; testing more than 20 scents before we found The One! Numerous perfumists kept trying to sell us scents that smelled like an Easter basket. We wanted a scent that embraced Easter time and what we envisioned as the lifestyle of the Easter Bunny. Oh, this was fun! This vibrant blend of shimmering garden greens is highlighted with a hint of mint for a fresh sensation. A blend of spring flowers is tucked away among the green tones for added texture, while sandalwood creates glowing warmth for the blend. Hints of musk finish the fragrance. I would think there would be more fruity/sweet scents for a kid's scent, myself.

And here's the Bogeyman FO, so you don't have to go searching for it. :)

That sounds interesting. Would you put a hole in the top of the egg and fill it that way?
Would there be restrictions on the type of soap or could you say.....make one with coconut milk or other additives?

In my experience, women seperate scents into "male," "female" and "unisex" much more than men do. when making soap for a group, I try to make a floral, a green/herbal, vanilla and a citrus. Everybody can find something they like!

luckster0--That's exactly how it was done in the Soaping101 video. She cut a hole in the top of the egg, and wrapped the center seam to seal it from leaks. She also blew out raw eggs to use their shells as molds too, but I felt that the soap didn't come out as nicely from them.

hmlove1218--You're welcome! :)

dixiedragon--I'm probably not going to make enough soap to have all of those on-hand. And one of the few times I've heard others asking about scents was when my brother thought he might have to borrow my shower and wanted to know if the shampoo I had was 'girly scented'. (At the time it was original formula H&S, so not girly scented!)

I just made an Easter loaf last night. I used Easter Bunny Burps from NG for it and I love it. It's got a Springy type smell to it. I think of fresh cut grass with morning dew on it. It smells delightful. I didn't have any ricing or acceleration with it.

what about these?? [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0muJtuhATH0[/ame]

neeners--That's exactly the video that I got the idea for whipped soap from! :) Though I'm not going to be piping it into peeps.

I went out and bought a large bag of plastic easter eggs to use as molds. I was looking at other pages for whipped soap, and one mentioned that the whipped soap likes to stick to molds that aren't silicone or freezer-paper lined... Any suggestions for what to do with the plastic eggs to make sure the soap releases nicely?

Any idea about how adding sodium lactate would affect whipped soap?

I also was heading to Sprouts today, so I got some of the 100% palm oil "shortening". Going to need to figure out how to melt it to use in smaller batches, since I'm not sure the container it was sold in can be put in the microwave...

And I also bought FOs to use. Ended up going with fruit cereal for the kids' soap (was originally going to use Monkey Farts, but the description said it riced. Whoops! Out of the basket it came), and eventually went with "Pheromones" for the adult ones. If I don't like that, I also purchased Absinthe. lol

What would be the purpose of adding sodium lactate to the whipped soap? Whipped soap is very hard, harder than regular soap.

Aaah, I forgot a bit that whipped soap would be naturally harder with its high % of hard oils. A lot of my soaps have been really soft, due to not having a lot of hard oils to add it. (Mostly coconut oil, and that needs to be kept to low percentages.)
