Hi all. Thanks to all the many helpful hints and suggestions on this forum. I just attempted my second batch of soap and this time I am trying for a swirl soap. I will let ya'll know how it comes out. I used cocoa powder as my colorant anyone else done this did it work?

me too, cocoa powder adds wonderful color (no smell though, poo)

Here is my first cocoa swirl - and my best so far! never been able to replicate it!

Like Rosey said no cocoa smell, this has eygptian dragon - lovely!

Wow...that turned out really pretty. Great job for your second batch! In the picture it looks like yellow and brown, did you also use something else for the yellow, or does it just look that way in the picture? Very, very pretty.

I put calendula petals in with the lye water, then added the lye, I find that they whizz up and make a smooth yellow colour that way, rather than the speckles of added to the oil. Took some of the batter out added the cocoa, pourd it back into the jug with the rest of the batter at varying heights, poured it into the mould then did a few swizzles with the spatula, and kept my fingers crossed!
