    Does E-wax drying your skin?

I don't find e-wax to be the best for skin lotion. I wouldn't say it's drying but on its own it doesn't feel moisturizing enough. What additives are you using?

    Random happiness

Try Saffire Blue. I have some SLS free and it's not drying IMO.

    Anyone snowed in?

Personally, I would rather deal with no snow at all and have the hassle of falling coconuts instead. :D

    Lardy Boy!

Using lard will make a nice bar of soap. You can always add honey or icing sugar to the mix to increase bubbles. I played with your recipe a bit (below). It ups the cleansing but the conditioning is so high, not to mention the SF, that it shouldn't be an issue unless your skin is sensitive to...

    Anyone snowed in?

Yes, -31C here with the windchill. Too cold to snow! Best wishes to those who are currently getting pummelled by this storm system. The big news here was that on 01 Jan Canada was colder than the South Pole and Winterpeg was colder than Mars.

    scam alert

Just a note on shipping using freight companies...Oftentimes the terms and conditions will indicate that if the appointed payor refuses to pay the bill then the shipper is legally responsible, even if the consignee is the appointed payor and the freight moves on their account. Of course, the...

How to superfat an 8 lb batch

Hi What percentage was your coconut oil? You don't have to double the SF but it might be that you may need to increase it a bit or lower your cleansing number.

HP: to stir, or not to stir?

I tend to stir throughout the process, but only because it seems to help keep the soap from climbing out of the pot. It happened only once but that was enough for me.

    Which courier to use?

If your package is over 20mm thick then it bumps you to a parcel rate. You can ship up to 500 grams but it can't be thicker than 2 cms.

    Yum! Beautiful packaging.

    Oils

Probably no difference, unless the beauty oils have additives. Most of us use the stuff in the grocery isle or from online suppliers.

A Month in Jail for Possession of... Soap

I was travelling through Houston and TSA went ape on me because half of my laptop was covered by my backpack :wtf:. I can't imagine what they would have done to me with a bunch of soap in one of those bins.

A Month in Jail for Possession of... Soap

Fingers crossed for me this weekend. I will be crossing the great divide to collect my parcel in NY and hopefully I won't get a newly minted CBSA zealot looking to prove themselves.

    Have $400 To Start Soaping...

There is Saffire Blue and New Directions Aromatics in Mississauga. Both are great and have very reasonable shipping. Nature's Garden in the US is good too for scents (they are potent and last). Your recipe is a good one--try 50% OO, 20%CO,25%PO and 5% castor oil. Won't be drying, will be nice...
