Did you know you can eat lye

I got food grade lye from essential depot just so I could make German pretzels and then never got around to it before I used up all the lye LOL I didn't know that about mandarin oranges though - I figured they went through a machine peeler? Thought I saw a How it's Made episode where they...

    Red CP Soap

No, I read the same post, it was the reason I bought that color lol herbaliser, it was supposed to be red/green for christmas (scented with Peak Hollyberry & Ivy). The green is green chrome oxide from BB.

    Red CP Soap

I have the merlot sparkle. I used a lot and only got this pink: I got the suggestion from a thread here but it didn't work out like I wanted, at all :(

    soap for teeth

The idea of going no-fluoride is that even if you're careful with fluoride toothpaste, you get some in your system and even that tiny amount is do bad things (what, I really don't know now - mutant-itis? Cancer? I doubt it, and whatever it is, I'd rather risk it than lose all my teeth in my...

    soap for teeth

I remember trying it (tooth soap) once when I started going no-fluoride. Never again. Blech. My own PSA: I went 6 years no fluoride, brushing 2-3 times a day + flossing with Tom's of Maine no fluoride tooth pastes. I was adamant that fluoride in any amount was pure evil. I need every...

I pulled it off - Soap display

That is really cool, nice work!

    Castile Soap

IMO, castille is 100% OO - no other oils added. If you add milk as part of the water, then it's still castille. Bastille happens when any other oil gets added.... just how I see it.

    the truth is revealed

The ONLY soap I've ever seen dried up and wrinkled like that is an Olay bar (that was my preferred bar pre-homemade). None of my soap does that. The only thing "wrong" with a bar that does that, that I can think of, is that it'll easily break - the Olay bar I had it happen to just snapped in half.

    Canadian spelling

Thanks Lindy :) I'm rather fond of all things Canadian (except the immigration process LOL), and will be selling primarily locally (at least to start), so I'll go with the Canadian spelling.

Going through old pictures and voila -

Ooo you make candles like we saw on an episode of "How it's Made" - the kids were nagging me for months to make candles lol Love this one, super cute!

Love it! I agree with the cake and frosting look, yummy! That's the red I wanted in my holiday soap - what did you use for it?

Packaging "untested" soap for long term storage.

Thanks, I'll just do that. It'll be cool during the fall, winter, and spring... hot in the summer though. And a bit humid but not horrible. I guess this'll be a good test for long term effectiveness of my soap lol

Packaging "untested" soap for long term storage.

I have ~150 bars that I can't get rid of, when we head north in a few weeks, but I can't take them all with me... be lucky to take 2-3 dozen. So I need to store my "babies" but not sure how best to do it. For the boxes I packed up for Clean the World, I did a layer of soap (laid flat), layer of...

    Coconut FO

Peak's turned burnt plastic smell on my and BB's didn't stick...I don't know what it smells like but it's not coconut. Everywhere I look, soapers want coconut FO, but no one can find one :/

    Canadian spelling

In addition to SEO, I'm thinking of my labels and stuff for farmer's markets - in Canada. I don't know what customers would expect to see or if they have a preference. This part of my marketing research isn't going so well :/

    Soap Making and Pregnancy

Yes, just a face mask is plenty protection. Though this made me think of all the woman in the "old days" bent over the soap pot, stirring with a full belly. I'm very glad for modern times :D

New bastilles... pink+green are holiday colors too right?

So they're all cut and the gel has faded or spread out in all of them - the dark green center of the solid green soap matches the light green and the pink/green is mostly evened out, it just has some wicked ash going on. So weird lol
