PHOTOS added page 2 : Found a MaMa cat... (UPDATE: KITTENS!)

She looks so much like my roommate's cat Mikol. I wonder if this one likes to nibble on hair too.

Polyurethane your molds? And bar weights.

And it's a WSP silicone mold too. Will make soap on my next free evening. I move Wed and then I'm in limbo with work so I really don't know when I'm coming or going. They are trying to fire me and the shop stewards aren't making themselves available so no precedings can go forward. Bleh. I...

Polyurethane your molds? And bar weights.

Silicone is god, of soap molds. For me. Although my roommates mom borrowed my newest mold to bake a cake before she delivered me the mold. Ha. Shouldn't complain, she saves me a bundle on shipping.

Looking for article about a little boy badly burned with lye

I where glasses too, but I'm still partial to using goggles. I suppose the best alternative would be a full face mask. Still, they don't seal to your skin the way goggles do so they don't seem as safe. When I was a child my father was helping with a wood chipper. He was wearing a full face...

How important is the type of water used when making CP soap?

I think it depends on the city. I stopped using distilled or purified water in favor of tap water. We have fantastic water here (BC, Vancouver area). From the sounds of your water, your soap will be fine. I doubt you would find any difference.

Tattooed wedding rings. Yay vs Nay?

A friend of mine and her fiance plan on getting them since she hates wearing rings. I say whatever floats your boat. Personally, even though I love tattoos and have one and am in the process of setting up an appointment to get another, I wouldn't want a ring tattoo.

    First lye accident

That's frightening. I where glasses so I supposed I always have a minimum of eye protection. Very minimum but still. Lefties will inheret the Earth with our cats as the supreme masters.

    First lye accident

Thanks Cera and evatgirl73. Alway check the jar before you carry it anywhere. This was the only time it wasn't properly sealed for me, and it mattered.

    First lye accident

Thank you both. I'm going to pick up rosehip oil on my next day off. Right now I am using aloe vera.

    First lye accident

I have had that happen. I now don't measure my lye until right when I am about to use it so it doesn't sit around outside of it's jar. And thanks by hand is doing pretty well, the patches are rising so it may all heal without crevasses, which is great.

So blue and yellow make grey?

This is the first real morph I've had. I really wouldn't expect Castile to be so... Not green or yellow but it still feels nice so I won't complain too much. I have learned one thing thanks to the batch after this... Jojoba meal makes dark brown, near black soap. It looks like chocolate but...

So blue and yellow make grey?

I put the colour in after the scent. It's turned a little tan/ purple-ish colour now. I'm going to chock this up to colour warping and wait and see how it develops.

    ALL HAIL TOASTED ALMOND

I still eat almonds like candy. I miss mojos. (A hard taffy candy.) Thankfully there is a specialty candy store that sells them from time to time in Vancouver so I manage to have them occasionally but where I grew up 711 (convienence store) used to sell every flavour for cheap.

So blue and yellow make grey?

Yes, with the yellow or green of castile I would have expected a different shade of green. It's the very light grey that has thrown me off. It looks more like a coconut base because it is so light. I know better but it still has me boggled.

So blue and yellow make grey?

I just made my first batch after my lye burn (hand still looks gross and it's going to have craters but no nerve damage was done so I'm good) and I mixed yellow and blue liquid concentrate since I've gotten a beautiful deep green doing this before. Wouldn't you know this time it is a LIGHT grey...

    Acne Bar

The bar that more or less cured my acne was just high in coconut with a 10% superfat and pink clay. The clay is fantastic for my skin.

tap water in Lye water - Update

I've used both and haven't seen a difference so I just use tap water now. Then again, our tap water is glacier fed from the mountains so it is pretty fantastic water.

    Soap break

I am also on a soaping break, not that I want to be. Just in between moving and a still healing burn on my palm I figure it is best to wait. Not enjoying the waiting.

Just to give you an idea of the heat we have here in Aus...

I live in a rain`forest but manage to make bath bombs fine. I think it's because we have cooler humidity, rather than hotter. And oh is it humid, lakes, ocean, rain, rivers.
