Hello,

I would appreciate some help in formulating a cp acne bar. Does anyone have a recipe to share, or recipe formulation advice? What soaping oils help the problem?

Thanks

Pine Tar and charcoal are both good additives for that kind of bar. Keep you percentages at about 5% of the total weight on each ingredient. Don't make it too stripping or you'll just aggravate the problem by causing the skin to produce more sebum (oils).

The bar that more or less cured my acne was just high in coconut with a 10% superfat and pink clay. The clay is fantastic for my skin.

Clay, charcoal, tea tree oil, all are good for acneic skin.
I make an acne bar for my teenage son, It's a general soap using coconut, palm, olive and castor. I superfat at 8% and add kaolin clay and tea tree oil. You can use some lavender to mellow out the tea tree if you don't like the smell. I do though.
I get hormonal breakouts, and a 100% Coconut, 20% superfat salt bar does me the world of good. You know when you go to the beach and the salt water dries out your skin and it feels really good? It's just like that.

My advice is rosemary EO in a very mild bar - I use castille.

Its worked for a few of my friends and is milder than tea tree - which can be a little harsh sometimes.

Chrissy - when you use your salt bar, do you rub the bar directly on your face or just apply the lather? Just asking because over time, I would think using the salt bar directly on your face would cause more harm that good (making visible capillaries worse)

May I suggest adding peppermint EO and TTO, in a lard/coconut blend for oily skin.

Thank you all for you kind responses. I see that I have some experimenting to do!

The only thing to remember about TTO is that you need to put a warning on that if they are going to have surgery TTO can interfere with the anaesthetic.... so can eucalyptus.....

Thanks for that info!!! I am having surgery in a week and 3 days...... Anything else I should not be using?????

Ginkgo should not be used prior to surgery...increased blood flow

You will have a pre surgery consultation, I am sure, and then they should be able to tell you.

Hope the operation and recovery goes well for you!

Healinya, no I don't rub the soap directly on my face. I get a good lather in my hands and then wash my face. If i'm feeling really greasy (if it's been a hot day) I'll let the lather sit for a few seconds before rinsing off.
When I first made salt bars I though that they were going to be super scratchy and only able to use on feet or hands, but one you use it once they are so smooth, like a river pebble.

Oh absolutely - I love how smooth salt bars feel. I question if there are practically microscopic jagged edges that would scrape delicate facial skin over time (I won't be testing that on myself though lol)

I've rubbed a salt bar (made with rock sea salt) directly onto my face and it doesn't scratch or scrape at all. Skin ends up smooth as a baby's bot bot.
