    what'll sugar do, really?

I use 1 to 2 tablespoons raw sugar for 2lb oil weight. I reserve 1/4 cup of my water amount and heat to just warm, add the sugar and stir to dissolve in well. I then SB this into my oils well before adding the lye water. No toffee, no bits, it works very well for me. I don't have to worry...

    Tussah Silk

I think Artisan means cotton ball? I pull off a small cotton ball sized amount for a 1 kilo oil weight batch, so about 1.5 cms circumference I'd estimate. Tanya :)

    Making a facial scrub

A CP salt soap bar would be wonderful for your face imho. You can also add salt to M&P base but it gets quite firm and you need to force it into the mould - still works well though. I make an emulsified salt body scrub but feel it would be too scratchy for directly on the face. Tanya :)

Does anyone know what this could be?

Could it possibly be a bleed of the black into the surrounding soap? Sort of diluting the border....? Tanya :)

    weird question

I make an anhydrous body butter and as I don't add a preservative I put a 'best before' date of 6 months on the label. Any I have left over after that get made into soap. I just weigh the total and work out the % of each oil/butter that I used - easy peasy! Tanya :)

Superfat % for a 100% CO Oil Soap

I usually do 20% too Stacykins. I have a normal to oily skin in summer and a normal to dry skin in winter and can use my 20% sf CO soap all year round...HTH! (HCG - CO is coconut oil  ) Tanya :)

    Guess who just ordered

Clare - I use SL at 2% and it works wonderfully well in Nizzy's divider mould. I usually soap a 1000 gram oil weight batch and add 20ml SL to my lye water, as Chrissy said. I usually dissolve silk into the lye water first and then add the SL when the silk is all dissolved. You can use up to...

They are gorgeous and thank you for the fascination explanation. My DD has been given a betta for her birthday and I am worried we are going to lose him. Ambient RT atm is between 16 and 25 degrees and he is not eating (had him for 8 days, not eating for 3 - or so it seems. We have removed...

Chrissy - do you want some help? I make cigar bands and folded swing tags using Microsoft Publisher and then print them on regular copy paper and cut them with a guillotine - easy now I have it all set up. If your computer has Publisher I can email you a template to start you off....just let...
