    Evaporated Milk?

I've used Evaporated Milk several times. I discounted the amount of milk from the water. I always get the milk slushy frozen and add it after I mix the lye/water and oils together. It makes a nice soap--I use it when I make oatmeal soap.

Adjusting Water for FO or EO

I don't either. I only adjust the liquid if I'm planning on gelling or swirling.

Need advice for mailing cold process soap.

I mail soap in flat rate postal boxes (free!). I know shipping for a small one is $5.20 regardless of the weight, the med box is a little over ten dollars. I use anything from bubble wrap to crinkled up freezer paper to pack the box (great use for those little odd shaped pieces left over from...

    Borax and Risk

Someone much smarter than me will have to chime in. I do add borax (20 mule team stuff) to my washer with my regular detergent and it's a great additive for my laundry. I've also sprinkled borax and baking soda to scrub my bathtub--it gets it sparkling clean.

Salt bar sucks v2.0 (added cut pic)

I've used Peaks Coconut milk last month in a soap, and yes, mine smelled pretty awful too. The good smell did return as the soap cured, but it faded some. I'm not fond of it, but people who smell it seem to like it. I think it smells sort of plastic. It really did smell great oob.

So I decided to make some soap tonight...

My local Walmart pulled a fast one on me with the freezer paper. There was none to be found in the foil/wax paper area (it's always there!). I kept looking, and found it in the camping-fishing-hunting supply area. :o

    The dreaded mold debate

I have one wooden mold, the rest are silicone or plastic type stuff. I bought some fairly thick clear vinyl, cut it to fit my wooden mold to use as a liner. When I unmold, I just wash it, dry it, fit it back in for the next time.

    Castor Oil %

I normally use a little less than 5% but I've went as high as 8%--no problems what so ever.

    aloe vera

Ive used Aloe Juice several times in my soap. I freeze it and use it 100% to mix my lye. I'm not sure about any properties, I would assume the lye would consume most anything in it, but it does make a nice liquid to use in soap. I honestly can't tell the difference between any of my soaps...
