    soap a bit soft

Layne: I haven't tried this yet, but someone told me on another post to use beeswax to harden a batch; was told it doesn't take much. If you want to stay with the oils and exact recipe you are using, maybe someone could let you know it that would help harden the batch. Also, have you read...

    brittle soap

I always use all vegetable type oils and have always cut within 24 hours. 48 must be too long for your recipe. Check often as Kitn mentioned.

    hardness vs conditioning

Thanks Bibs...I haven't ever tried beeswax. Do you add that to your hard oils when melting and proceed as usual?

    When success isn't so sweet

Congratulations to you on your success! I'm sure you have worked very hard to get where you are. It seems that many people are busy doing their thing...get wrapped up in their world and do not offer support, guidance etc. But if these so called "friends" have nothing to say to you redgarding...

How soon to safely start selling?

The attorney I spoke to explained the same thing as Kittywing's friend, to form an LLC to protect your own property. (Your LLC could still be sued; but your personally not at risk). In addition, purchase liability nsurance to protect your customer (for serious allergic reaction or whatever). I...

    Should I Apologize?

I would say do not contact her, especially if she is married. But, if you happen to run into her at some point in time, it would be nice to say hi and apologize for the past.

Found a place to get all sorts of stuff

That is wonderful... I wish I had a place like that nearby. It would be nice not to have to pay shipping, especially when I just need one thing.

    storing my oils

Kitn: That is a great idea. After seeing everyone's "saponifactories" I have been trying to move everything to one place, where it all fits. There is also an extra refrigerator in this area that we use mainly for the freezer and some soda. I think I will have to claim that also.

would you rather a Rosemary Bar or Mint bar?

I really like rosemary and spearmint, but I haven't tried it with peppermint also. I will have to see if that is better.

How soon to safely start selling?

Juicybath & BC, I hope I didn't offend either of you or anyone else. I certainly did not in anyway mean to dicourage others from selling their products (I wish everyone much success...including me). I am just commenting based on my experiences, to assist others who may be unsure. I know my...

    Trying something

JuicyBath: Have you used the ground carrots in soap yet. I am curious how the color turns out...if it is orange, peach or if it changes to brown with they lye. I am trying to find any natural colorants I can. If anyone knows of anymore, I'd love to hear about them.
