    How successful is patchouli soap?

Many years ago I loved it... when you walked into the head-shops and that was all you could smell. Now, I don't like it unless it is a very light blend.

    Rash gone

Thanks everyone. I was really glad to hear that the rash went away. Her legs looked as if she had a bad case of ecxema, but I don't know what it was. I figured if she was using a commercial soap, handmade couldn't hurt, but I wondered and worried about it since I am fairly new to...

going to make a peak order

Milla: The 4 you narrowed down to all sound wonderful. I love Chanel #5 and Chanel #22. Let us know how they compare.

    I fell in love

They all look beautiful, but I really like the white one. It just looks so creamy. Do you now prefer the CPHP to CP?

    band style labels....

I use Kraft paper, cut it so the soap shows on top and bottem. I wrap it around my soap, rub a little gluestick on it to glue closed. I then tie a piece of rafia ribbon around that.

    Powdered or Confectioners Sugar

Does powdered/confectioners sugar add any whiteness to CP soap if added at trace? or in lye water? And will it help to add bubbles if added at trace? or in lye water?

    Rash gone

In late July my husband & I visited his good friend out of state. I took gifts of my handmade lavender soap (for his wife, daugher & cousin). His wife had a terrible rash on her legs when we arrived which worried me since I did not know if she may have allergies and could have a reaction to my...

    question about scents

With your EO's, try to add a base note or at least a middle note to your blends. You may only need a very small amount of the base, but I've noticed this will help to hold the scent.

    Re-setting your skin

I was never able to use the scented commercial bars; they all irritated my skin (and I don't consider my skin sensitive). When I used commercial bars; I used dove sensitive skin or unscented basis. However, for me none compare to handcrafted natural soap.

    recipe adjustment

awi: I would go to soap calc and insert your doubled ingredients in there. This will then calculate your lye/water amounts.

What to add to help preserve soaps?

I haven't had any problems and I do not use preservatives. But, as Artisan mentioned, I have had EO's fade on a citrus batch of soap I made. Unfortunately I named it Ultimate Citrus Daydream and it turned out to be Untimate Citrus Nightmare after about three months. It still looked beautiful...

More popular - soap mold shapes or plain bars?

Thanks for all the replys. It sounds like the bars have it (I am glad to hear). MagiaDellaLuna, you are right "Customers do often say "They are so pretty and smell so good I would hate to use them". One of my coworkes still has not used a bar I gave her (months ago) for that very reason...

More popular - soap mold shapes or plain bars?

I've seen many differnt typs of soap molds on the market, but have never experimented with any of the shapes. The other day I was in a store that had jello silicone molds shaped like two oranges (packaged w/ four molds). I almost bought them for an orange scented bar, but decided against it...

Which basic recipe would be better?

Rosey: Out of all of those I like your first recipe best. I would superfat it as others have mentioned.

    Paid Business Licenses Services

DonnieJ: Did they complete everything yet? I have been watching this post to see if you did get all the proper licensing. Do they take care of everything (LLC, Ficticious Name, City or County permits and license, Fed and State Tax...). What does the $300 cover.

    New WSP silicone mold

I've been using silicone loaf pans, but they do not form a perfect square shape like the WSP molds. They work well, but I do want to eventially go to the WSP mold if I ever start selling. But for experimenting with different recipes, they have been excellent. I really like the perfect shape...
