Which basic recipe would be better?

I'm trying to make a simple basic recipe with what I have (I'm out of shea butter )

I'm a little worried about the cleansing being 20 with this.

What do you guys think?

Coconut Oil 30%
Olive Oil 30%
Palm 30%
Castor Oil 5%
Jojoba 5%

Hardness 43
Cleansing 20
Conditioning 48
Bubbly 25
Creamy 27
Iodine 52
INS 159

Or would this one be better?

personally, i like the 1st one best-some of my bars on cleansing is as high as 25, but i compensate for it by increasing my lye discount.

IMHO with a lye discount of 8-10% it will be very nice.

try dropping the jojoba and increasing castor to 10%. see what the numbers say.

depends on what you mean by better!
and what your superfat will be.

I'd personally go with the first one, with a few tweaks to bump the conditioning...whether that means to superfat higher, or look at your oils with higher conditioning and just give 'em a lil bump...

I just leave the superfat at the default since I have no idea what I'm doing with that.

Since i have no idea about superfatting yet and what I'm doing with that, I tweaked the numbers and did:

Olive 40%
Castor 10%
Coconut 30%
Palm 20%

Which comes out to

Hardness 40
Cleansing 20
Conditioning 56
Bubbly 29
Creamy 28
Iodine 55
INS 160

Course the first batch I put canola instead of castor but I don't think that's too disastrous. It comes out to

Hardness 40
Cleansing 20
Conditioning 55
Bubbly 20
Creamy 20
Iodine 57
INS 156

(Still unsure what the last 2 numbers are exactly. I read it once and it went in one ear and out the other).

That's my goat's milk that I posted. I made 2 test batches tonight of gm with the recipe i intended to do the first time around.

We shall see, we shall see!

OK so I was tweaking the numbers tonight to get that cleansing down a little bit and I came up with these numbers:

Hardness 37
Cleansing 17
Conditioning 59
Bubbly 26
Creamy 29
Iodine 59
INS 152

Is the creamy too high?

How does soap act when the creamy roughly equals the bubbly?

That´s no problem, just means the bubbles will be very strong...

I was trying your recipe, why dont you try this:

20% coconut
30% palm
30% olive oil
10% castor

I´d do this with these oils

Rosey: Out of all of those I like your first recipe best. I would superfat it as others have mentioned.

If im using coconut oil, i try not to use more than 20% in standard recipes just becuase they tend to get very drying for me.
