    yet another label prototype

If I didn't know anything about homemade soap, the line about "Seriously. Do not, for any reason, put this in someone's mouth" would make me think it was possibly dangerous/poisonous. I wouldn't buy it - especially if I had kids or pets at home. They stick everything in their mouths. I get...

    Products for the older generation

I don't sell, but these are the things that my mom and her friends at a retirement home really liked: lotion - ones that aren't too greasy and sink in fast herbal satchels lip balm Mini Soap Cupcakes - these were going to be gifted to grandkids - also those plastic fish in melt and pour were a...

    Shave Soap Puck vs Cup

The reason folks HP shave shave is that you need a lot of stearic acid to create that super thick foam. Stearic acid really has to be hot processed as it instantly reacts. The inclusion of KOH is to soften the puck so it is easy to whip up lather. The inclusion doesn't make gummy soap - it's...

    I need "Labels for Dummies"

I have a laser printer and love it. Based on folks' feedback in this thread, I'm going to check out Online Labels. Right now, I'm using these full-sheet labels from Amazon. I like them a lot better than Avery ones since they are easier to remove the backings and are much clearer/shinier. I...

    Egg soap

Thanks for posting this! As usual, you've covered all the questions I was going to ask. :) I was surprised to read about the gelling... that's a handy benefit. I normally don't bother gelling but sometimes want the richer colors. My pet chickens just started laying, and we are running out of...

Brown spots in cold process soap?

Without a picture, I'm guessing it might be fragrance oil that clung onto your clay.

My new “Woke AF” coffee soap LOL =)

That is scrumptious looking! I really how you organized the blenders - I think that might be the first time I've seen it at the bottom.

What do you do with your mistakes ?

I only soap as a fun hobby and give away what I make. My batches are small (around 1-2 lbs). I make around 5-10 batches a month. A lose isn't that big of a deal. I always wait about three months to see if a batch improves. For me it depends on the mistake. Anything that would require a rebatch...

Trying to run before I can walk!!

I think your soaps came out really nice. Don't worry - I've been making soap for a while and still have a lot of Plan B (or Plan C or Plan D or OMG - JUST GET IT IN THE MOLD :hairpulling:) batches. A few suggestions for trying out more intricate swirls... Spend more time stirring and less...

Sub for Essence of Jesus by Rustic Escentuals

FYI: I love that scent and use it a lot for shave soaps... so hot processing. Last week, I made a batch of regular CP with Spiced Mahogany. It actually behaved pretty well in the bowl with some ricing and acceleration, but then heated on me in the mold. I ended up with some small FO pockets...

    Fragrance Oils and Trace

I have found that some micas do not behave with some FOs. I had a batch a while back where I split into several colors... only the one with green accelerated. I've used that same mica in a lot of other batches and never had a problem. Also, mixing FOs is a roll of the dice... just like kids...

"Flavor oils technically have an indefinite shelf life" True or false

I would say they definitely do not have an indefinite shelf-life. They might have a fairly long shelf-life and can be used so long as they seem okay (smell/taste/look) as the folks above mentioned. But those suckers are going to go off at some point. I have some that are a few years old and...
