They are basically fragrance oils that are lip safe. I feel that if they don’t smell off they should be fine. I use most of min within a year but have a couple that I only use seasonally.
Like Shari said, if they don't smell bad, I consider them to be fine. I have some that are going on 3 years old and they are still good smell-wise and taste-wise. I store them out of the light in an enclosed cardboard box in the coolest room in my house.

I'm having an argument about the word indefinite with my daughter and what that word means to someone buying something.

Properly stored fragrance oils lose their scent over time so I guess flavoured oils lose their scent and taste too.

I would say they definitely do not have an indefinite shelf-life. They might have a fairly long shelf-life and can be used so long as they seem okay (smell/taste/look) as the folks above mentioned. But those suckers are going to go off at some point.
I have some that are a few years old and seem fine for personal use. If I was selling, I absolutely would not use anything that was past the manufacturer's expiration dates - why borrow liability risk?

I was shocked to READ that on a 'popular suppliers' site.
10 y/o FO's I have ad were fine (some where not) but the Flavor oils were NOT AT ALL ok.
To me that is completely misleading in my mind.
DD said the Definition does not say forever. I said it does say "unlimited. an indefinite number" So for many this does not mean a LESS THEN 10 year shelf life.
She says but ... 'not definite; without fixed or specified limit' is before that and that means it will end.
I think that if you are going to SELL something that WILL have an expiration date at some point in the future that you NEED to but one on there.

So what you are saying is that the vendor's website says the flavor oil or fragrance oil or whatever it is they were describing has both indefinite and unlimited shelf life? In my mind, they are certainly misleading their clients by using both those words to describe how long the product will last. If I read that, I wouldn't buy from them at all. In my mind those two words are contradictory.

They just state Exactly what is in the Title.
Not unlimited, that word is in the definition of Indefinite .

Well, that's even more confusing, then. When I think of indefinite, I don't think of unlimited. Unlimited means to me that it would have no limit. Whereas indefinite means to me that there is a question or confusion about how definite something is, which if it pertains to a shelf life, would mean that it is undetermined. Therefore this still makes no sense to me.
