I want a soap mold that turns out a loaf not a slab

Cosmo's mold is very professional- IMO. :) The sides of the soap are perfectly square- no fighting with the silicone even when new. There is a lot of attention to detail when this was made which I haven't seen before in a mold and I have tons of molds. Trust me. LOL The bar size is one that I...

How to rebatch soap? Help please

I do mine like Hazel- I"m beginning to think she is my twin. LOL :D I want to know who told you not to superfat- so I can hit them with my big stick. :) I do have one un-superfatted soap- it's for laundry if that gives you an idea. Superfatting also gives you a little lee way for...

    Lye fumes

I soaped pregnant but not as much when I wasn't. You definitely need to wear a good mask and gloves whenever soaping but especially then. Other than that, I didn't have a problem.

    Dreaming about soap

It's an enormous operation. You just kind of pull up to the warehouse door and they load your car for you. :) I had to go into the warehouse to write my check and I was just surrounded by shelves and shelves of oils. It just made me want to go apey in there and break out some lye and get to...

LOL- I've seen the inside of Soapers Choice- move to Illinois and your dream would come true. :D

All I want for Christmas is..........

Another fish tank and some Discus to go along with it. :) I would also love another mold from nurture soap. She is Cosmo on here. A cure for Type 1 Diabetes would also be nice for my daughter. Other than that I'm set. I pretty much could have all I want. I'm lucky that way I guess.

    Alchemy & Ashes

I thought it was perfect too. I'm jealous of her branding talent. Her products and set up just fit together so nicely. Very inspiring.

I want a soap mold that turns out a loaf not a slab

The Dollar Tree if your looking for cheap: http://www.dollartree.com/catalog/searc ... er&x=0&y=0 I like the 2 medium size organizers when your in a pinch. I just bought a mold I dearly love that has a silicone liner from someone on Etsy who happened to be a member here which is amazing...

    A Soapy Success Story...with Pics!

Wow! Really beautiful display and soapies! :) I think you could pull off 5.50 and then discount your 4 or 5 bars but I see where you are coming from on the prices. I like your way of thinking on that and I do think the same way. I'm a stay at home mom so this is all on the side for me. It's an...

    New to soap

I'm with Dragon- learn Hot Process Soaping for your solid bars and get comfy with that. Then move on to Liquid Soap or my favorite Cream Soap when your ready. These 3 processes are very similar with obviously different outcomes. You can also use less of your Essential Oils in Hot Process soap...

    lye didn't dissolve?

I've noticed this at times as well.

    Aesthetically pleasing soap sizes

I'll keep them crossed for you. :) It's a process to get there but you will get there. When you do, you'll see better what your base wants. All people really know is 5 ounces or whatever ounces. Mine cure out to roughly a little under 5 but almost 5 and most people enjoy that size and it lasts...

    Aesthetically pleasing soap sizes

My standard is 1 x 2.5 x 3.5 which I believe a lot of soapers use when selling. I know Soap Hutch does their standard logs in these measurements. This is a nice size bar (and my fave) for sure but I would say more medium than large. Soapers who do large do really large it seems from my browsing...

    Yep what Hazel said!

    Learn from my mistake

This is precisely why I don't buy any lye packaged in plastic bags. I was afraid of this happening. I'm so glad you and your family weren't hurt. :)

    soap smorgasbord

Yeah I"m wondering too. LOL I use a ziplock but if there is something else I'm all ears.

    lye didn't dissolve?

I was thinking lint but for me that takes leaving lye overnight to get sometimes. What do the floaters look like? Do they seem bigger than actual lye beads that you are using or a different shape? I have strained lye before- it should be fine (though I'm not promising). I would strain it...

    hello from Indiana!

Good luck! Take it slow- learn all you can which sounds like what your doing. Once you do your first batch- your like- that was it? LOL Then the addiction starts and you make more and more until your soap takes up every square inch of your house- then you have to build a work shop and well you...

    new guy from the.uk

I think I have heard from some UK soapers that their MP outsells their CP in the UK but it all depends on your market. It also depends on what you want in your final product. You could start with MP and graduate to CP. :)

    hello from Indiana!

This is what I would do for your first batch. It makes a great soap. You can replace that Shea with Castor as well which is also great soap. Easy to make as well. Welcome to the Dark Side!
