What soapy thing have you done today?

Thanks for this. I was trying to add all these ingredients into a lye calculator. Couldn’t make the lye and Water ratios the same as the given recipe. I thought I had missed something.

So I received this certified letter in the mail yesterday...

I think this whole thing about Dr. squash not making their own product is incredibly funny. I got into Soapmaking because of my son who uses that product and the price point is ridiculous! Once I started to look at the soap it’s very basic but it’s the scent that he really likes. which is hard...

So I received this certified letter in the mail yesterday...

I know…responding to a years old post. But I wondered what happened to the “cease and desist” and is Dr. Squach still allegedly not making their own product? 🤔

    Dried fruit

I recently started viewing a Nordic soapers channel-Tellervo. . They were using grapefruit juice and dried peel in this soap. I can understand the peel but what of the juice would survive saponification? Or is this just label appeal?

What soapy thing have you done today?

These look fabulous!! You did a great job!! I took a look at the recipe on their website but couldn't work out the batch size and why there was no castor oil. Or maybe you need the mag to get the full recipe?

    Problem with a mold

Thanks @AliOop!! Could I oven process instead? I don’t have a heating pad 😐 Also, I’ve been adding sugar to my warm oils. I’m also adding (and it may not be written down) sodium citrate into lye solution. When I’ve added sugar and sc to lye I get lumps 😢

    Problem with a mold

Used this mold for the first time 48 hours ago. Hand washed before use. Added rather non- unusual soap batter. Put filled molds and put in insulated cabinet for 12 hours and then left on my work table for another 12 hours. The soap did not release very easily. In fact, it’s still pretty soft...

    Salt Soap and super fat

8 years? 120%? WOW! Doubt I could wait that long. LOL!! And my salt is only use 10% the oil weight. At that level I can oven process and cut the next day. I'm also using Himalayan salt which I grind until most of it is fine. Do you use anything other than water for your liquid? I made another...

    Salt Soap and super fat

You're probably right about the lye solution. I made another batch using the same recipe yesterday, paying special attention to all the measuring, stirring and desolving and it turned out really well!! I don't know if I can wait a year to use one though. LOL!! I'm not the most patient person...

What soapy thing have you done today?

This is a Himalayan Pink Salt soap. I’ve made this once before and somehow I messed it up. I wanted to see if I could do it again without the mistake. Whether I corrected my mistake or not, the top sure looks pretty. 😍

    Salt Soap and super fat

QQ - I've seen different cure times from months to a year. Why do you advise a long cure time?

    Salt Soap and super fat

I made two batches of salt soap based on Holly‘s Soapmaking recipe. The first batch I used 15% super fat and the bars are really hard and after four weeks they were usable. The second batch, I made a mistake and used 12% super fat. At four weeks, these bars are still rather soft, dent easily...

What soapy thing have you done today?

I'm not a fan of Lavender either but Holly Soap Making does an eo blend of Lavender and Peppermint. I tried to replicate it and almost made myself sick!! I wonder if there is a Lavender gene just like there's a Cilantro gene. You either love the smell or you hate it! 🤔 Oh and what soappy...

How much would you pay for a bar of soap?

Since I can now make soap, I'd pay zero $. :p Before starting my soapmaking adventures...zero $. (Since moving out on my own, I've always used body washes) At least I'm consistent! LOL!!
