    High humidity, lye and static electricity

    I use waxed paper to measure my lye. Folded in half then into the tray on the scale. If a little clings to the paper, it just goes into the garbage. No cup to wash lye out of. Try rubbing the dryer sheet on the inside of the measuring cup next time. Mike

    If the reaction is complete there should not bt too much fatty acids left in the glycerol. Ther is however, depending on the quality of the oil, actual soap in the glycerol. I have made soap from my own bio by-product and it cleans like nobody's business

    Clumping lye?

    I use a lot of lye in my biodiesel production. I have been purchaseing lye from the hardware store for over 3 and EVERY bottle has some clumps in it. Never had a batch fail yet ( well due to the lye )
