Hello all!
My name is Dawn and I am from northern Indiana. I am new to soap and candle making and am very anxious to get started making things. I acquired over $1000 worth of candle and soap supplies from a company that went out of business (purchased it all for $300, knew it was a steal, but have no idea what to do with all of it yet!) So, hoping to get started soon and I know I will learn alot from all of you! I would like to just start off with simple recipes, get them perfected and keep moving up to more elaborate items. I have buckets of oils, lye, scents and who knows what else down in my basement!! My main concern is being able to make quality soaps and candles that are highly scented. I feel like the scent is the most important ingredient so I would love to learn where to get the best ones and how to use them correctly. I had met a woman a few years ago that made soap that I bought in bulk and sold in a little store and people went crazy over them but she would never reveal where she bought her scents from. They were colored bars of soap that had chunks of other colors of soap inside of them. I think I want to start off making those since they seemed to be a big hit. Also, I spend hundreds of dollars a year on candles and would like to make my own and maybe save a little money by making them myself. I am so looking forward to spending time here, very happy that I found this website!!

Hi Dawn,

Welcome to the forum! :D

You might want to check out the Fragrance Oils/Fragrance Reviews section and the Shopping Recommendations section. These sections should get you started on becoming familiar with some of the different companies that sell FOs. There are a lot of different companies and everyone has their favorite sites where they buy their scents.
