Can someone give me a recommendation on where to get a good fitting one so I don't have to keep doing this. It's a tad annoying. Haha!

Anyone find a place with in stock that fits the red molds?

You can go to the hardware and get 2 pieces of wood, as tall as the mold is deep, and about 5cm longer than your mold, drill holes in each end of both pieces and put a screw thingy through and secure with a bolt.
Mind you, it will need something underneath if you are going to move it around:)

LMAO....that reminds me of mine last time I used it. I still can't believe I read so many posts about "just using the box it comes in". I was shoving craft sticks down in the sides left and right, propping things up next to it, etc. I hadn't cut off the flaps from the top (I read that closing the flaps will help hold the heat in) and decided that next time I'm going to tuck them inside the box before putting the mold in, maybe it will lend more stability. I do like purplefan's idea using wood and long bolts, may have to run to Home Depot.

I saw a picture where someone just wrapped a bungie cord around the parameter of the wood (purchased cut wood at the hardware store) with the mold inside, instead of using bolts or screws. Good for when you're not very handy with the power tools.

Here's some pics of the mold I had custom made by Designcraft Industries. The total price for mold + shipping to me was $29.90 (TN to VA). Took just under 2 weeks from inception to delivery at my door. I love it! I'm definitely going to order more. They have other molds too.

Its made from poplar. I just flip the wood mold over and the ED liner and soap slide out easy peasy. Then I just work the liner loose from around the soap block and pop it out. This is by far the easiest soap to unmold. I just wish ED made bigger liners.

Hi you guys! I wanted pop in and help out a little. :)

I think the wood molds that Candybee has are beautifully designed! However, as a soaper, I know I get soap everywhere and it would be like glue. I worry that a soap mold without removable sides might get tricky in the long run. I think if you do textured tops it would be hard to simply turn the mold upside down, because it would ruin the tops.

Soap molds are generally made differently from other wooden boxes because of accessibility. The person from Design Crafts is obviously very talented. If possible, it may be wise to ask him to build a mold with removable sides. You really will be happy you did in the long run!

At the very least ask him to cut finger holes in the bottom of the mold so you can push your liner UP, which would be super easy!

Just some ideas. :)

this is what I use...I loop thick rubber bands together to make a long band that goes around the mold...it takes only seconds to set up.

Heartsong, I have that mold! Aside from the fact that gel doesn't happen like I would like it to, I find that it's a great little mold. I haven't had bowing issues with it at all. The lid keeps everything in place. Does yours bow?

Thinking about it, maybe a lid for the ED mold would work... Something to keep it in place and prevent it from bowing? Maybe a simple wood lid that fits around the top of the mold?

I fill mine almost to the top for a square soap, so the sides bulges a tiny bit (i'm too nit-picky) I love this little mold.

the easiest way to force gel is using an electric heating pad and towels since oven method would warp the plastic lid.

My husband made me a wooden mold that the bottom slides out and the silicone just comes out the bottom. I love them. No pretty top disasters from turning upside down and no sides to take apart and re-assemble.

I didn't have problems with the liner 'sticking like glue' to the mold even with soap spilled over. The soap stays in the liner when you take it out of the wood mold. No damage to the top whatsoever. You take the soap out of the liner the same as any liner. If you want to do fancy tops no problem. I do them myself.

I'll have to try that with the wood and rubberbands and see if I can get it right with overtightening and bending it more. Thanks! :)

jennee, you only have to have enuff tension to hold the wood in place...you don't have to over-tighten...after you think you've got it right, just pour water into the mold to the level that you pour your soap, then make adjustments...a cookie sheet underneath is awfuk handy.
