Is it like a few kernels of rice or a mess of it? I made a vanilla soap not too long ago and the fragrance didn't stick, it looked as if there were a few (like maybe 4) pieces of rice at one part of the batch. The soap seemed a bit oily on the outside when I unmolded but otherwise it hardened up okay. It was a 15% vanilla eo.

Thanks & Happy New Year!

When I had an fo rice on me it was definitely more than just a few pieces of rice. Darn florals.

Are you sure everything was melted? Did you soap at a temp where you might have butters resolidifying? One time I had soaped too cool and stearic spots from the cocoa butter make little round dots on the top. Learned my lesson there!

Oh it was more than just a few. There were hudreds of them with a little bit of oily liquid in between. Yes, I'm sure everything was melted. I don't want to deal with it right now. I'm going to wait til tomorrow and cut it. We'll see.

Happy New year to you too!

Oh man that really stinks! STUPID GREMLINS! Dontcha wish we could lock them up forever?

No fun at all, but if the soap isn't acceptable, try to rebatch. Often my rebatches turn out nicer, and then I just tell myself, "I meant to do that!"

I made a hot pink soap once that I ended up rebatching about 5 times before I could say "I meant to do that." The trouble was that the pink rebatch looked like raw meat. sausage, or SPAM. I ended up adding a bit of blue coloring to give it a lavender shade. Turned out to be several people's favorite soap. When they wanted more I had to tell them that it was a limited edition soap.

I will rebatch, but only as a last resort.

That stinks! I used WSP honeysuckle one time and it riced on me...and moved super fast. I think I ended up chunking the soap.

O.K. this is weird because I'm quoting myself! I wasn't clear when I posted my response. It was meant for terminalcitygirl, not you Soapbuddy. Asking you those questions would be like Obiwan questioning Yoda! I kneel at the feet of the master!
:D

Hope the batch came through for you.

And ewenique, I admire your persistence with your rebatching! :D

I didn't know that you can quote yourself! That's kind of cool. No need to kneel, :D I don't know everything.

Ah, a very serious topic, which brings up some very serious questions:

In which direction should those of us, like myself, who must regularly kneel at the feet of the master, kneel?

And do the masters have to start talking in a cryptic puzzling fashion? And use strange word order? Or does that only happen in the movies?
