I've searched and searched and can't find any recent answers to this question. I want to color some M&P to use on top of my CP soaps, like fruits and such. I have micas from Nuture and some liquid colors I bought years ago. It's been so long since I used any M&P that I have no idea what is best any more! Help please!

I think liquid color is easiest to use in MP. I get the majority of mine from WSP. I've also had good results with their color blocks, but those seem to perform better in the translucent soaps than the opaques.

I've seen people spray their micas with alcohol. They mix immediately and you can then add to M P

I've also added the mica to the pot, dropped the MP atop it, and melted it that way in the microwave. The melting MP disperses the micas fairly well, and a good stir seems to do the rest of it.

Recalcitrant bits can simply be sprayed with alcohol when they float to the top, if there are any. That'll break them up.

I wanted to add that I have had good luck using natural colorants (indigo, madder, spirulina and alkanet) mixed with glycerin and added drop by drop.

I started out w/just mp and really like this method of coloring with micas, from Debbie Chiapas. For me, at least, it let me mix the exact colors I wanted, add them in amounts (depending on my desired intensity) which did not change the mix of the base too much, and were cheap and easy to make in larger amounts if I wanted to for the next time:

This may be a slight deviation,(read hijack), but I'm going to try the CP with a MP drop swirl. Is there a good ratio to do?

I can't find the thread now, but I liked the CP/MP swirl you did before (green/yellow/white? Maybe am misremembering). It prompted me to try one (did not use enough MP, and then tried again with more, which was better.) I think your ratios are already pretty good.

Sorry ally, I can't claim responsibility for the soap you're remembering. I'm going to try this for the first time using a T&S mold. Holds 60 oz of liquid. I was estimating to use 6 oz of MP as one of the colors. Is this enough?
