How does powder sugar work vs granulated is it just easier to dissolve into the soap or is there another reason you use it? And at what step do you add it before or after the lye?

Add your sugar to your distilled water and dissolve thoroughly before you add the NaOH to the water. Never reverse that or you will end up with little lye heavy candy bits in your water.

You can also make a simple syrup and blend that into your oils.

Thanks! That one is a pine tar soap with a citrus and cedarwood scent it’s got activated charcoal, oats, and a little pumice for exfoliation. I will give the sugar a try on my next batch, but how does the aloe Vera affect the soap? Is that something I need to punch into soap calc?
Aloe increases bubbles. I’m not sure if the exact chemical reaction that occurs. I just enter the recipe as if I was using water and substitute aloe vera juice 1:1. This is the aloe vera I use https://www.walmart.com/ip/10314798?sid=17989196-1079-429b-91b6-55a06ae8c471
