I made my pine tar soap in ZNSC late last night and cut this afternoon. I had to get creative and cut the bars the way most of you cut woodgrain soaps in order to cut off the ugly top layer for a smoother finish. Anyone care to educate me on why my soap looks spotted? I'd like to get a smooth fudgy look next time.

I get that look sometimes with my pine tar. It seems to happen when some oils don’t fully incorporate with the lye solution. I’ve tested the spots, and they don’t zap, so it appears to be cosmetic only (still annoying tho). I haven’t yet figured out why it happens sometimes, or how to stop it from happening. Hoping someone else will have a solution for us, @Servant4Christ !
