Is there something I can add to make a pink or red valentines soap without having to buy dye? I need something fast so I can make some and have it cure in time without having to order anything...there are no craft stores around here that have dye. Is there some herb or something? Thanks!

I have used paprika in the past, but don't go too crazy with it or it could become an irritant.

What to make soap pink or red?
If you are fast about it, you could order some French Rose Clay from Oregon Trails. It makes a lovely soft pink color without being too drying on the skin like alot of the other clays. You don't need but a tiny bit. I have made red soap with red Aussie clay, but I got to tell you...it made a mess in the soap dish and on the wash cloth. Looked like I was bleeding, not washing! I have used Paprika but you do get speckles and the color is more pinky-orange and it was a tiny bit scratchy. I probably used too much. The speckles were pretty though.

Lately I received a bar of soap made by a friend. It is colored a vibrant pink, the kind of pink that makes you think of marshmallows and candies. What she did was dissolve some fuchsia colored silk fabric in her water-lye solution. I have no idea how this worked for her, I never tried it myself but the soap is excellent. Has a nice slip, lathers just fine, smell is good, does not strip my skin of its natural oils and produces a slightly pinkish lather.
Now I 'm really itching to give it a try, I especially want a deep red soap but I am a little reluctant. I'm thinking it might not be very mild on sensitive skin (you never know what kind of dye the fabric manufacturer used) but I will eventually make a small batch just to see how it works.

I would personally not use fabric dyes in soap on my family & me and when giving away and selling you could get in serious trouble.
Yes, you can use silk in soap (add to your lye solution and it will slowly dissolve); but undyed.
Right now I'm adding liquid silk to most of my soaps; but I plan on buying some tussah silk fibers:

i put tussah silk in the last 2 batches i made, but i thought if i could use fabric scraps, it would be a way to use them up. i'm trying to be opportunist.
my sister showed me a silk quilt our mother brought back from china. it had an opening so we could see inside....i will have silk to last a lifetime plus some if i decide to use the slik in her quilt. it's all raw, so it'd be perfect for soaping.

I guess you could try with beetroot.

I used it few times in my face-paint creams for kids. First you should cook it and than smash it. The colour is very intensive.
I hope it will work well with CP... but you should check it.
