I made another batch of soap -- 2 days in a row for those who are counting. It's one of my favorite blends -- bergamot and cedarwood. So. Many. Dishes.
Actually, kind of cool.So hind sight from my absolute seized soap the other night….I had the start of yet another Covid virus and I think I may not have been feeling great that night.
Here is a pic of the cut soap which really is not as bad as I thought it would be.
Just breathe....I made soap today, 3rd day in a row for those who are counting. It's a special order and requires 2 separate sessions and I got stressed and thank goodness for Mrs. Zing's calmness and expert spatula skills. It was the first time I forgot a scent. I remembered the peppermint but forgot the benzoin. Erg. Trying to relax now.
Since it was the last soap pictured, you might have been talking about the one I made. If that's the one you are asking about, the technique is called a Mantra Swirl. If you are talking about a soap made by someone else, enter the @ symbol, followed by the member's name. This will give them a notification so they will see your comment, @jeanemarieDoes that kind of swirl in your gorgeous soap have a name?
You guys are making me homesick! From the Swedish American who lived in MN for 18 years, lol….although I never lived in MN until I married someone from there who had no Scandinavian ancestry! Go figure! LOLActually, @Zany_in_CO, as a Norwegian Minnesotan I have to say that there are more people of Norwegian decent than Swedish decent in MN. I live just a few miles north of Anoka, home of Garrison Keillor. His grandparents lived about 1/2 mile away from me, although I never met them. My grandfather taught high school chemistry in Anoka, and if GK took that class, my grandfather taught him. I think I remember he did, but I can't be sure. The Scandinavian couple you are thinking about in his jokes/stories was probably Ole and Lena, and Sven was often featured as well.
Well, yeah! LolAh, Minnesota - "Where the women are strong, the men are good looking and all of the children are above average” - GK
Love thos colors!I finally had time to clean up my soaps and take photos. I don't usually name my soaps, but I'm calling this one Resilience. The colors were inspired by a painting that hangs in the waiting room of my orthopedic clinic. The fragrance is Leaves from Fragrance Buddy. I missed on the blue a bit, but I'm pretty happy with it. I can't decide if I like the top or the bottom better.

But you’re soaping……unlike me who hasn’t for quite a while. Ok. Maybe like three weeks. But it feels like forever. I’m sure even without scent, what you made is beautiful.I made soap today, 3rd day in a row for those who are counting. It's a special order and requires 2 separate sessions and I got stressed and thank goodness for Mrs. Zing's calmness and expert spatula skills. It was the first time I forgot a scent. That blend sounds lovely! May I ask what percent of each EO you use?I made another batch of soap -- 2 days in a row for those who are counting. It's one of my favorite blends -- bergamot and cedarwood. So. Many. Dishes.

On the plus side, I won a writing contest and got some extra money to provide said soap cutter, along with an order at Nurture and some other places, so I've been pretty happy overall,
No secrets here. It was 50 50 bergamot and cedarwood. I get usage rates from Find Blends - EO Calc - Essential Oil CalculatorThat blend sounds lovely! May I ask what percent of each EO you use?
That’s AWESOME! Brag away, Dad!And hey, can this dad take a moment to brag? Our children were here for a concert. Our oldest is a poet. A local composer used one of their poems to create a song and last night was the first performance of it. For the Minnesohtans out there, it was Cantus, and just a really awesome performance. The current concert runs through the 19th -- go!
Thanks Zing! I have been using EO calc since you mentioned it in another post.No secrets here. It was 50 50 bergamot and cedarwood. I get usage rates from Find Blends - EO Calc - Essential Oil Calculator
I had a soapy yesterday. Unmolded and cut my fourth batch.
Our adult children came to visit, yay! The beekeeper son gave me a load of his company's beeswax. The company owner's wife also makes soap with his beeswax. Last year I made a batch of soap using that beeswax and honey and used honeycomb molds and bubble wrap and gave a batch to my son. My son gave a bar to his boss. His wife put it in the shower and his boss said No, we can't use it, we're just going to look at it! LOL.
Both kids have been begging for soap but inventory has been low up until recently. I'll load them up before they leave.
