I finally did something I have been meaning/wanting to do for some time but had simply been uninspired. I made Ciaglia soap. It's nothing fancy but I think I like it. I'll unmold and cut it tomorrow before posting any pictures; at this point, though, I'm happy with the colour (even though it looks a bit like pea soup) and I'm happy with the fragrance (Aloe & Green Clover).

I'm finding that lately I've been making soap because "I hafta!", with markets coming up and such but I've been a bit uninspired. This Ciaglia soap has gotten some of the creative juices flowing again and it feels good. It's about time!

I like it, @Misschief - looks like they will be super cute when you unmold them! 🥰

I'm pretty happy with it. Here's the cut, and unmolded, soap.

I finally made an actual beach soap, with a sandy layer and shells on top. I had my fingers crossed on this one because my son called right as I was making the first layer. We kept talking because he called during a window of opportunity (the Alligator Alley drive from Naples to Plantation in FL) and I didn’t want to miss the chance for a good long chat. The middle blue layer could’ve been a little lighter, but overall I am super happy with the color of the new blue ultramarine I bought from BrambleBerry, plus it’s much easier to mix with oil compared with the last batch of UB I had from an Amazon supplier. (Edited to add: I also used a tiny bit of Hydrated Chrome Green in the middle blue layer). The only thing I missed was adding FO to one of the blue layers. Whew! Rough cut:

ETA: here are the two colorants in case anyone is not familiar with them

You were able to mix the UM blue with oil? That’s really good to know. I use UMs but it’s always a bit of a struggle getting them incorporated. I usually mix them with glycerin and then mix either to the lye or into the batter. I realize it won’t dissolve in the oil, just disperse (I guess).
