What soapy thing have you done today?

Not @Humblegoat , but for me, it's simply because I'm trying to reduce the chances to zero of anything ever going wrong. I know it's impossible, so I look for opportunities for minimization. I've learned that "food grade" things get extra special attention/treatment. I like that. Overkill, yes. But, that's me

@justsomeguy and what you said too. I also find less dust and fumes with food grade. Maybe a hallucination

I understand that, but I’m not a large soap maker. I don’t want to deal with heavy metals or impurities that could be issue with less than 99-100%. A personal preference.

Substantially less allowance for heavy metals, more reliable purity in FCC grade. Even if I was a home crafter, not making my living making soap, I'd still use it.

I understand the thought behind that, but if you research the differences between food grade lye, and the different grades of lye sold by chemical supply houses, you may decide that the difference in cost is not worth it. I've never purchased food grade lye, and never had anything go wrong with my soap that wasn't traceable to my own error, or a naughty fragrance. But, that's me.

What? And take away the option of my total innocence??!

Yesterday I made some flower embeds with a new set of flower disks for the extruded and soap dough. Today I made a batch with BB Peach Prosecco to put them in.

Here’s the soap I made yesterday, just cut them. Had to get my photo quick, because orange. Already fading out on me. This was a version of the soap I wanted to make for the yellow challenge a few month ago. I am pretty happy with the flower embeds, for a first go with the 3 piece disk set to make them. Lesson learned - for the top flowers, they need to be cut and reshaped the day before - too much work to get them in their best shape when the loaf of soap is setting up.

Made a batch of Goat Milk & Lavender Soap this morning. It's chilling outside at the moment. This is one of my best sellers; I'm trying to get my most popular soaps made before I start "playing" with new fragrances.

I didn't mean to do a soapy thing, it was an accident, I just tripped over it as I was scrolling through things on Amazon and by "things" I mean I was looking for colloidal silver ointment and found a colloidal silver soap I did not know there was such a thing, or if I did, I forgot Anyway, of course the first thing I looked at was the ingredient list and what do you think they used??? That's right, the straight Holy Trinity, coconut/palm/olive and the colloidal silver. That's all there was. ugh. I was hoping for something a smidge more gentle ~ then I would have hit "Add to Cart" even with the $8.99 price tag

Lisa from I dream in Soap cuts some of her embeds on a softer surface like a towel or rag to minimize damaging the shape of an embed.

My soapy thing for today was supposed to be making my first batch of oatmeal, milk & honey soap. Instead, I was surprised with a new baby in the barn this morning! His mama will contribute to providing milk for that oatmeal, milk & honey soap I'm planning.
