I’m planning to make foaming sugar scrub out of the base recipe from the DIY foaming bath butter. I’ll be making the foaming bath butter base for the first time. I got a yummy WSP candy cane marshmallow fragrance oil for the finished product.
I just double checked my ingredients and wonder if this Bubble Boost - CAPB product I purchased from Brambleberry is ok to use for the Cocamidopropyl Betaine? In looking closely, it has water, Cocamidopropyl betaine, salt and glycerin for the ingredients. If it’s not a 1:1 sub in, any recommendations on adjustments? I bought it specifically for this recipe without noticing the fine details, so I’m bummed. Thinking @Misschief might be able to weigh in, along with others? 🌸

The INCI for Cocamidopropyl Betaine is just that - cocamidopropyl betaine. You'd need to know the percentages of the other ingredients in order to make a sub. Once you know the percentages, you can adjust the water and glycerine.

To follow up my question about this, l finally made the DIY Foaming Bath Butter base yesterday for the first time. I ended up using the BB Bubble Boost without adjustment after chatting with Sandra who said give it a go as is, which meant no math. Then I promptly used all the base I made. I won’t be able to compare for a bit, since I’ll use up the Bubble Boost before I pivot to using Cocamidopropyl Betaine. Making product with the base reminds me of making Divinity.

Last night I made the DIY Foaming Sugar Scrub. I used WSP Candy Cane Marshmallow FO and NS Love Song Mica. It’s super bubbly and smells great - wish I had made it before the holidays. I’ve been on vacation so my office ladies will be happy to get containers of it to test. I will say, it is a challenge to pipe!

Then this morning I had to do math 😆 to use up the remainder of the base to make the Foaming Facial Scrub that my adult son has been wanting. I added scrubbies that are in a product he likes - very fine pumice, ground walnut and coconut shells, and rainbow jojoba beads. I had the wine glass containers sitting around, so I filled the bottom with decorating sugar and plugged it with hot glue so the product just filled the top. I hope he likes it.
