on my gm cp soap? its cured a month already, and the only one in the batch of 12 thats showing it. it has wheatgerm and evening primrose oil in it. i know to keep soaps cool and dry, but my soaps have been in a room that gets lots of condensation and sun. is that anything to do with the spot i can see?

so, really what i'm asking is what is it, how did it get there and what can i do about it?

it could be DOS or it could be bits of goats milk that wasn't fully incorporated.

if it's DOS you want to be sure you have your soaps in a cool dry room, use only fresh oils, and cross your fingers.

if it's the GM then you need to ensure it's fully incorporated... Did you add the GM at trace? mix the lye into it? use powdered?

Did you use powdered GM? If you did, it's probably some that didn't get mixed in & the lye turned it orange. That's happened to me. If it's DOS, your soap will start smelling rancid.

used fresh gm, and added it at trace.

i think it is probably dos, and i definitely need to get them in a cooler dryer room

hopefully it doesn't happen to any more of them.

thanks

I can almost guarantee it's your wheatgerm oil, check the date of expiry, it goes rancid in no time, even sooner than the use by date. I stay away from it in all of my products. That is a DOS spot

you can dig out the DOS areas and use it for yourself, but dont' store it for long.

You can use it, shouldn't sell it of course, but the soap will end up smelling bad, just like rancid oil. Personally I would put it down to bad experience and toss it.
