Vonna, if your soap is emulsified - that is, the oils and lye liquid seem to be blended and not swirling separately - then unless you have added something that needs a lot of blending in, or a finicky FO, your soap should still turn into soap. Check it 24 hours after the pour and see how it goes. Good luck!

Tanya :)

Ohhh, thanks so much topcat :) I didn't add any FO just the called amount (or a little less) of EO and I blended on and off with a stick blender for a couple of minutes until it started to thicken just a little then poured. The consistency was probably like gravy instead of pudding. I'll leave it alone now and quit worrying, after all it has only been about 17 hours since pouring...I think I'm just really impatient!!! Thanks!!!

How much water did you use Vonna? If you did not discount it at all, it may take longer to set up firmly. Also did you soap with any hard oils in the mix? All those things can affect how quickly your soap firms up enough to unmould.

This is the recipe I used...

6oz CO
1oz Grapeseed Oil
34oz OO
15oz water minus 2 tbsp to soak the nori in
5.49 oz lye
1.5 oz EO

soaked nori in the water and an extra tbsp of GO added this and the EO at trace (or what I thought was trace) :) and now I'm waiting.
This is a recipe I found on the net. I followed it exactly.
Does this sound okay?

Ran that recipe through soapcalc online and it shows me it is 6% superfat (really good IMHO). What you have here is commonly called a 'bastille' recipe - heavy on the olive oil. OO is a lovely hard soap....eventually. Takes quite a while to firm up and needs at least a 6 week cure to harden well. Gets better and better with time. It sounds like a lovely recipe and be prepared to wait and wait for it to firm up enough to unmould. I don't know how long as I haven't soaped that high with OO as yet. Patience is called for now

Tanya :)

Thanks so much Tanya!!! You've given me hope!! I just checked it again and I can tell it is firming just VERY SLOWLY... It's moving at a glacier pace :) I think it will be a lovely soap though in the end. Thanks for all your help and advice!!

Well I know this is an old topic but heres a little update...I am still waiting on my pvc soap to harden up enough to unmold and its almost there thank goodness. I made another soap just like it only changed the oils around a bit and used a pringle can for my mold and I'm really happy with it. I unmolded after about 18 hours. Now I just have to wait a bit longer for the pvc soap :) Heres a pic of the soap I made just like it.

Hi Vonna - that pringle can soap is just sooooo pretty. I love that green colour! If you like, you can try freezing your PVC soap, mould and all, overnight so it is well frozen. Take it out of the freezer and leave somewhere for around an hour depending on the ambient room temp; this will allow the mould and the very outer layer of soap to begin to defrost a little. Then use something of a slightly smaller diameter to push the frozen soap out of the mould? It does work although it can be hard work  The only PVC mould soap I made I did that and used a plastic bottle of solid cocount oil as my 'pusher'. Otherwise just leave it alone and use your very well developed (by now) patience :D

Tanya :)

Thanks everyone and yes Tanya I think I've perfected my patience instead of my soap :) I am going on vacation as of 6am tomorrow for 2 weeks so I'll just leave it alone for now and unmould (hopefully) when I get home. I'm a bit worried though...no soaping for 2 whole weeks!!!!!!!! I'm going to have withdrawls!!! Hopefully I get some really great ideas while I'm gone :)

Great soaps

Very handsome looking soap.
Best of luck on your holidays. The step back from soaping for a short time will work well for you.
Enjoy your self
