Sometimes I blow myself away with too much fragrance & or essential oils & my fairly large 2 level home STINKS like a french brothel.
This is not intentional but just making alot of soaps or getting into fragrances that are unexpectedly strong.
I know some of us are prone to headaches & even though is only 35 outside I'll throw open some doors & windows.
I wonder what our furry friends feel about our soaping? My french bulldog often sits by the door while I soap & I wonder if hes assulted & overwhelmed by the smells?
I hope dogs don't get headaches, I feel kinda bad knowing how sensitive his nose is.

I have a hard time with strong scents, they give me a headache and on occasion make me naseous. I don't have dogs, but I do have cats and it's kinda funny because they will make a face that lets you know they don't like the smell. I think they've learned to stay away or go outside when I'm soaping.

I don't think our dogs are bothered. I soap in the kitchen and cure them in the dining room. The dogs like to lay in the dining room so it can't be bothering them too much. Although, I do know one of them loves the scent of goat milk powder.

The cats don't seem to be bothered, either. They hang around in the kitchen and stare at me while I soap. It makes me nervous since I'm handling lye. They've never done anything. They just lay there...and stare.

Oh Hazel is that your dog in your picture? does he only have three legs?

Yes, that's Max who was the sweetest, most loving dog. Because of this, my sister nicknamed him Lover Boy and I thought it was a very appropriate name for him. He only had 3 legs. Long story made short - speeding SUV, paralyzed leg, etc.

my dogs don't appear to notice the smell while I'm soaping and also hang out a lot in my curing area (there is a heated floor in that room).

My soaping area is right next to the steps going into the basement. My cat likes to sit at the top of the steps and watch me....doesn't seem to bother her.

You do have to be careful with cats, they are not tolerant of fragrances and MANY EOs are deadly to them. Their little systems shut down. I am not aware of ay harm to a dog through fo or EOs.

My cats pretty much stay out of my soap room, except to go out the back door. Now the dog, he's about the dumbest animal in the world and he'd likely eat the soap if I let him.

My Maggie (terrier) sits or lays at the top of the basement stairs when I'm working downstairs. She knows she's not allowed to go down the steps. Every once in a while I hear "plop plop plop bang" -- she drops her ball down the steps in an attempt to get my attention. I throw it back up to her and in a few minutes down comes the ball again. She tires of it after about 3 tosses, tho. The fragrances don't seem to phase her at all. The chi stays on the second floor of the house unless she needs to go out. That's her territory; not sure if she's affected by the fragrances. No cats around here.

I have a seperate cottage for soaping, but when I mke my dog stay out there with me, she doesnt seem to mind, but I get out pretty quickly after adding the fos.
