Does any reuse their fragrance / essential oil bottles?

I often thought about it, but so far I have been throwing them out.

What do you do with your?

I never throw them out, they are great for blending and for sending a sample to or splitting an order with a friend. As soon as they are empty I wash em and toss em in a basket.

I do what lsg does. I save them to use for rebottling fo's that I get from suppliers that ship them in plastic.

I keep a few for measuring and blending FOs but most of them I give to my friend who does a lot of oil infusions and fermentations.

I keep and reuse the glass bottles, the plastic ones go into my recycling bin because I believe that the FO will have snuck into the plastic. My oil bottles I will keep and re-purpose for lotions, liquid soap storage, etc.

ok, good to know as I wasn't sure and was tossing them out. I know what you mean about the bottles from wsp, sadly I tossed a few out a couple months ago, but I will keep them from now on!

Thanks

I never throw them out...I wash them in the sink, then run them through the dishwasher on the sanitize (highest) setting. I keep the larger ones to transfer EOs that are shipped in plastics or for custom blending. The others I have found myriad uses for...like storing plant seeds, testing EO blends, etc...and if you're really creative, you could make a chandelier with them and twinkle lights...
I actually just sold a huge boxful of used empty amber glass bottles on eBay because I was running out of room to store them all in!

What about putting them in the dishwasher? I have a 32 oz. amber bottle that had orange essential oil in it. I cleaned it, put baking soda & hot water in it. It still smells. I will try the rubbing alcohol. But I wanted to get opinions first.

I run mine through the dishwasher all the time. I use the highest/hottest/sanitize setting and that usually takes care of any fragrance left in them.

Sadly I don't have a dishwasher, perhaps boiling the bottles would still be ok?

I soak mine in hot soapy water IMMEDIATELY after emptying...it usually takes the smell out when I soak them for an hour or so.

If not, alcohol does work.

I reuse all my jars and bottles. I'm in panic mode because my shipment of 40lbs of oils is supposed to arrive today but its snowing, so I'm not sure if Fed Ex is out, so I might resort to buying another jar of coconut oil. That will mean I have over a dozen glass jars from coconut oil just laying around! I need a "jar room" for all my jars!

Yeah, more snow, just what we needed... I hope your package arrives today!
