Got some Shea butter and sweet almond oil yesterday, which I haven't used before, so I'll be making a batch using one or both of those. Just can't decide on a scent...

Homemade pizza last night, laundry, and netflix. Lotion bars and lip balms today for my cousin, need to make labels for lip balm, lotion bars, and soaps for gifts. Tomorrow...audubon meeting and a local brewery afterwards!

Jealous! I work this weekend but soaping on monday!

I measured oils for a batch of soap last Sunday and it still sits with the lid on, so I will make that for sure. It will be lavender, and I think I will try layering again.

It is supposed to rain today, but if it does not, I'll be out clearing the back fence line, as that is the only place I have to put any garden. Just four more days of school til we are out for SPRING BREAK! (excuse my shouting, but I'm really excited!) We (my co-teacher and I) have been dealing with some major problems in one lil guy, so work has been exhausting lately!

Lord bless you. My wife teaches as well. Our spring break started yesterday.

That's the beauty of those pre-measured oils. They are ready to go when you are. I have two batches waiting on me.

Well, I get to cut my first batch today, and see if it is as much of a disaster as I think it might be (it seems like it is very dry and I have the feeling it is going to crumble when I try to cut it). Other then that, I plan on trying at least a second batch this weekend, I might try a Castile, as I have a lot of OO and not as much of the other oils. (I don't want to run out of oils before the end of the month, cause I won't be able to buy any more until next month). I might try and do the Castile with a couple of colors and do an itp swirl and add a fragrance oil...

I plan on making a confetti soap with some leftover valentine's day themed soap. Already made some bath bombs and lip balm! Yay weekends!

Well, I cleaned up an acre of woods, clipping all the new growth off the trees we'd cut last year to make paths, then decided to clean up the rest of the acre where I want woodland gardens. My arms are shaky from all that work, so I'm glad I have a pre-measured batch waiting for tonight -- a lavender cylinder for felties in 4 weeks. Then I'm going to make yet another small batch of experimental shampoo bar. Just got my argan oil, can't wait to try it! Now if the broccoli seed oil would just arrive...

Oh, and I forgot, I have to make Vitamin C serum tomorrow for me, my sis and my mom. We're all out, and I swear by the stuff :)

WEEKEND UPDATE: my mom said that the cell phone was more important than soaping, at this time. But there has been a new development. My nephew wants coconut oil for his hair. He is now more interested in my soapmaking, even though I haven't made any yet. YAY!

Well, my soap making plans have been thwarted... I was planning on making a Castile Soap today, but I turned on my scale to weigh out some water, and found to my dismay that it was broken... the 0's are showing as 7's (likely because I spilled OO on it the other day and had forgotten to cover it in plastic wrap first :-( ) So, I am sitting here trying to figure out how to get a scale with no money. I have an option that I can use (Pay Pal's Bill Me Later), but I am not the happiest using it... and trying to decide which scale would be best to get if I do use that option.

We are kind of snowed in, which is perfect for soaping. I think tomorrow I will make coffee and cream soap. Last time I tried it, I forgot the coconut oil, and it was crazy lye heavy.

I was toying with the idea of making some soap with my rose clay using the Sun-Ripened Raspberry FO. I am not loving it in the bottle, but sometimes they smell better in soap. Not really sure what I am going to make.

I am going to try to do some more soaping videos if my husband can help me.

I mixed my sun-ripened raspberry fo with a lavender fo I had. It was a good mix! The raspberry fo is kind of weak on it's own.

Sorry to hear about your scale, Badger. That stinks!
On a happier note my salt bars came out pretty nice! I colored them pink and purple (for no particular reason) dumped in an oz of tea tree oil just b/c. sf at 30%. I was still worried about them being drying so i added lanolin at 5 %. I tested them at 8 hours, no zap. I just had to see what the lather was like. And it is soooooo cool! you know your a soap geek when you get excited about this kinda thing!

Well I am STILL waiting for my soap supplies to arrive so I guess I'll finish a crochet beanie I've been working on and then make some brownies. Yeah - it's gonna be a wild and crazy Saturday night up in here!!!

Good to know. I have never soaped with it. I am planning to use rose clay, so maybe that will anchor the scent? At any rate, I will use BB's FO calculator and err toward the higher end of the scent recommendation.

The latest soap experiment went as planned...I think but won't know for sure until its time to cut. So now I'm having a glass of wine with DH who made me the a hanger-type swirling device out of brass brazing rod earlier today. I'm sorry for the soaping troubles or the slow delivery mentioned above. Hope the weather is good at your place. It's pretty sucky here.

Hmmm, today didn't go quite as planned. I wasn't able to get the ginger EO that I need (want) for a recipe that is planned. That one will have to wait until I can order it.

Then I tried out a 100% coconut recipe at 20% SF. I tried to do a swirl, but the colors ended up being too similar, so you can't really see them individually. However, I did it in my new box mold and I have to say that the swirly top kicks a$$.

Then I attempted a two color swirl in my column mold. It ended up being a lot more of, oh crap, glop it in before it completely solidifies. However, it smells divine, ylang-ylang and sweet orange oil.

Sounds like several of us are having less then ideal weekends for soaping. *makes a note to go over and steal some of houseofwool's soap after they get Ginger EO* I love ginger if you didn't guess ;-)

DH is out earning some extra $$$ pushing snow around parking lots tonight,
so I made him a batch of pine tar. It's his favorite - he loves the smell.
But I totally forgot about adding goat milk until I was well into trace.
Shoot...I was talking about trying that just the other day, too.

p.s. Teri: Mmmmm....wine!
