Wondering about how to make confetti soap. I've seen two different ways: using scraps for soaps and throwing them in OR using scraps of soaps figuring out the oil scraps oil weight and subtracting it from the oil weight of your recipe.

Is there a preferred way or maybe it doesn't matter?

I don't do the math to figure out how much to reduce my recipe to accommodate the confetti. I just have another mold nearby and put any extra batter in that. I have some cavity molds my family likes, so a couple of extra bars will get used up.

I do calculate it, sort of. My method is not exact, but it works for me. Rather than figure out the amount of oil in the confetti scraps, I go by total weight. Let's say my mold holds about 48 oz and my confetti weighs 12 oz. So in my calculations, I figure I want 36 oz of soap batter (48-12). I just fiddle with the the amount of oils in the soap calculator until I end up with approximately 36 oz of soap batter. The amount of oils will vary slightly depending on the mix of oils, the lye concentration, and the SF % you use. Based on the current recipe I have in the soap calculator, I need 25 oz of oils to yield 35.67 oz of soap batter.
