I was wondering if anyone gives their soaps a water bath, and if so do you see any other benefits to it besides it makes them shiny? Thanks!

Not anymore. I found it to be annoying, the bottom becomes sticky, and it adds time to the cure. I prefer the cotton method now. Rubbing the soap to make the surfaces and edges shiny.

Ah, yes now I remember Tienne posting about removing marks with cotton. I thought I had subscribed to that thread so I would remember to try it. I will have to find some cotton to roll up now.

Water Bath?

I sometimes do a water bath depending on the soap but most of the time I use a microfiber cloth to shine up my soaps after I run them over the planer.

I like it for the shine. I've done the cotton cloth to smooth out the edges, but I did the water bath after for shine.

Oh heck no, I make way to much soap and it would take me forever to get them done. I do bevel all my soap though

Yep, bevel and plane mine as well. I did do a water bath to two of them last night... don't notice a darn bit of difference so I will not take this on. I will though go with the cotton cloth method just to clean up any little bits that stick around.
