I also find it odd you have a blog about *soap* when you don't even know the definition of soap & have no information about soap on it. You should also know according to the FDA you are making medical claims which has taken your blog from a soap or cosmetic spectrum & thrown it into a drug/medical spectrum.

This feels like a candid camera episode gone wrong...

Why would you post a *WAR ON SOAP* article on a handmade soap forum?Confused .
I'm not, I'm actually curious as to how you could possibly connect those kind of dots.

I'm very interested in soap and am trying to learn more, my blog is to track my progress and growth, once it is complete it could serve as a great guide to others who want to learn more about natural soap.

You simply misunderstand.

I wouldn't mind seeing some documentation supporting these claims. Have there been clinical studies done or is this a case of opinion?
Here you go.

here's some more info on ph and skin

My thoughts are that washing with vinegar, while killing any bacteria, etc. while rinsing may occur, you're also stripping your body of its natural oils (protective barrier) completely without replacing it in any way. I would think this more likely to leave your body open to disease.

This seems to be a common consensus among this message board, and it makes sense that this conclusion would be reached however after doing research(and even going to stores to check and compare acidic levels of different vinegars) it turns out that Apple Cider Vinegar is extremely close to human ph.

I am not suggesting that you guys jump ship or anything and start using vinegar, far from it in fact. I'm simply trying to find the most efficient way of naturally cleaning myself and others, I thought I'd ask start asking questions and shooting ideas around here.

It works. I know many people who wash up with a vinegar solution. I do about every three days or so. Plastic surgeons have been doing similiar for a long time with worse.

Vinegar removes soap scum from the tub with ease.

I use a spray bottle. Hop in turn shower on. Wash with just water. Turn off shower and get spray bottle. Vinegar every part of me. Scrub some. Turn shower on and rinse. Skin comes out very soft, blackheads no more, zits no more, dadruff gone, and so on.

There is no burning unless you got a solution to high in vinegar. Avoid eyes though it will not blind you but it will sting. Open wounds, scabs, and such do get a bit of stinging but never had an issue of vinegar effecting the healing process.

Edit- When I first tried this... I washed everyday for a few months with just vinegar and water. It did not dry my skin. I was doing experimentation and at first had too strong of a solution and did get a red face. I worked this out and since no other issues.

Do you have any more info on what kind of combination you use? What types of vinegar and how much vinegar:water you use? I'm doing some experimenting myself and will be posting what I find in my All Natural Soap Blog.

Those are hardly reliable sources. Peer reviewed technical journals are trustworthy. A home health aid is the "editor" of Bella Online, for example. Even wikipedia (not a source in and of itself) mentions "unsubstantiated... claims.

Not to say that vinegar isn't good stuff - I use it in the glaze for my maple pork chops and to remove scale from the humidifier.

Oh - and it's still not soap.

(btw: you can scrub your hands with cornmeal and vegetable oil to get them clean too)

Okay - this is simply the silliest thing I have ever seen.....I have no problem with you having strange views however the only reason I can see for you to take the time to post it here is to create havoc - sorry you're not getting quite the reaction you I imagined you thought you would - although you have truly managed to show us your lack of knowledge. In case you hadn't noticed this is a forum which is composed of individuals who actually know something about soap, who actually make soap and sell it to other people. Even if what you have to say had any relevance at all - it certainly isn't relavent to this forum.

We can all make it up as we go along - and you're doing an amazing job of that by the way - it doesn't make it true, or real, or anything else except your opinion which you are totally entitled to.

So thank you for taking the time to post such an intriguing topic and if you have anything to actually add to our conversations which are, hmm - yup about the benefits of handcrafted soap without trying to incite the group you are welcome to hang out with us....

Cheers
Lindy
