I use a "nature identical" EO blend which I get from my local South African supplier. Smells exactly like a really good Vanilla extract.
I use this in my Whipped Soap and the resulting colour is a very pale Beige.
Delicious soap.

Hey there - this is great news - would you mind sharing who in South Africa supplies you with it? I bought a Vanilla from Fun With Soap and from the Soap Barn, and both didnt really discolour my soap, but I had to literally throw in the whole bottle to get the strength of scent that I wanted. I like the idea of EO blend as opposed to FO though. Hope you dont mind sharing - would be grateful if you did, I have been dying to meet other South Africans on here!

Thanks, Ishbel :) (i'm doing my mr. bean impersonation right now, wish you could hear it :p )

I'm going to be soaping the "sleep time" EO blend from WSP this weekend, and it's a combo of lavender and vanilla (not too strong of vanilla). can anyone who has soaped this kind of give me a heads up of what this will discolor to? would it be wasting my newly acquired lavender buds in a batch?

The supplier is in Benoni. Escentia Products. (011) 425 3281

Just ask for the Vanilla EO. There will be no turning back though. It smells good enough to eat :)

Yumm - thanks for the tip! Will be looking them up now!

so when you use vanilla essential oil ~ do you have these same problems? I don't mind the brown coloring, but brown lather or seizing? Has anyone used ground vanilla beans?
