Oh no!!!!! I am not only a soap maker but I love cooking and I use Olive Oil in almost everything!!!! Total bummer!!!!!

What scared me was the mention of people selling adulterated olive oil and claiming that it is pure! Not cool! What if you have an allergy? Let alone the whole soap making issue....

I wonder what kind of real price changes we will see at the grocery store. Wondering if I should stock up next time at Trader Joes? Seems crazy, but the best price I have found anywhere (online, walmart, etc) for olive oil has been trader joes!! I use this for my soap, and I use a lot of olive oil in my recipes.

I can get 33 oz there of extra virgin olive oil for $5.
Anywhere that can top this?

I got 101 ounces of Olive Oil for $10 locally here (Market Basket).

The Sam's Club pure refined olive oil is a mix of refined and virgin olive oils. I just looked at my bottle.

101 fluid ounces is 10.98. I currently have 4 in the closet. I may go sometime this weekend and buy another 4, especially since we cook with EVOO all the time.

I buy a two pack of 3 liters (so about 203 oz roughly) for $21 and change at Costco

it is also a blend of refined and extra virgin... and I was looking to see where they get it... says at the bottom:

" product contains select high-quality olive oil from Argentina, Spain, Greece, Italy, Morocco, and Turkey"

I was rather hoping it would say California lol

ok, this forum is seriously breaking my "entertainment" budget. This morning I ordered cocoa butter, then since hearing about this OO shortage, I grabbed a gallon of Pomace oil from Gordon Food Service GFS bulk food, no membership cost) for $15!

PS: Can I freeze OO to help keep the shelf life last longer?
