I really want to try some of the gorgeous micas, but there's a $50 minimum order!
Can anyone give me ideas on which ones are good/bad/ugly in CP soap?

I have just added a photo of my latest soap using light gold mica in cp. I used 1/2 teaspoon to 200ml of soap for swirl. It was darker at first but once in the mold it has toned down alot. I think you could add more mica but I have heard it can play up in cp. There is mica sprinkled on the top so that will give you a comparision, mica is the darkest color in the soap. I'm in Australia & get mica cheap from Heirloom Body Care.

I had a little list somewhere and just went to get it and cannot find it...........Blow as I intend on ordering soon. If I find it I shall return and post as it is a little list I have formulated after talking with others that have used them.

I have used Cosmo Martini Purple and can confirm that it's an awesome mica for soapmaking. Others that I have tried and liked:
Mango Margarita
Blue Kamikaze
Shimmer Reddish Gold (Have only used in M&P so far)
Red Clay Satin (Have only used in M&P so far)

One that I have tried and DISLIKE for CP soapamaking is Starlight Green. It turns grey.

I used Magic Violet Mica in CP and it is really pretty. I used roughly 1 teaspoon PPO in this soap. The FO did eventually turn it just a little bit darker, but its still pretty. This is a cut picture. Sorry for the crappy lighting LOL

Aren't they gorgeous? I hate the $50 minimum order though :( I just ordered some from them recently so I am good for now, but check with me the next time you want to order from them, maybe we can split an order.

Lemon Mica (very vibrant yellow color)
Magic Pink Mica
Ruby Red Mica
Apple Green Mica
Shamrock Green Mica
Magic Blue Mica
Peacock Blue Mica
Magic Violet Mica
Cosmo Martini Purple

All stay true in CP soap.

I have a question. I have LOTS of mica eye shadows from bare essentials (all natural pigments) and unfortunately I never use them. Im wondering if I can use these in my soap? Arnt they the same thing....? Since they are all natural, maybe I will try it out so they arnt going to waste. Your thoughts?

Thanks Fata Morgana...you listed several I was thinking of buying :)
Maitri, I may take you up on that sometime...as it is I'm just trying to keep my purchase under $100, LOL! So many choices!!

I didn't see that, la la la la

Rock&Roll, I would think that eye shadow has additives in addition to the micas. Have you checked their website to see if you can find an ingredient list of their eyeshadows?

I read that mica will color cp soap similar to dioxides but that it loses its "glitter" quality because of the inherent opaqueness of cp (vs. clear m&p). True? I have some bronze mica that I used once, but the soap just looked "gritty," and the colors wanted to bleed. I wasn't sure if it was my batch, poor trace or the mica.

I havent but thats a good idea. They always tout that they only use all natural pigments. Its a loose powder and looks very similar to the micas used for soap. I figure if its safe to put on your eyes then its safe for soap but wether or not it morphs is another question!
