first off thanks to everyone for great advice. now for the TD problem. everytime we use TD the soaps seizes up. i have tried the oil base and the water base. we tried adding to the lye water and to the oil. it still turns into a thick mess and the one time that it started to work, it got to be a grainy mess and we are ready to just stop trying to have a really white soap. any suggestions? we have tried varying amounts of the the TD.

keep in mind i have little experience, but i've used mica a couple of times. it said to mix with oil to the side, but i just added it to the oils just before light trace, and it worked out find.

also, if i put too much in, i got a thick, frothy mess (which did mix in okay once with the rest of the oils)

Intresting. I have never had problems....well, once but it was my fault; I got in too big a hurry and did not mix it well.
Maybe it is the brand or the supplier?
Where did you get your T.D.? (if you don't mind me asking)

i bought both from ebay. maybe i should buy only from a soap supply site.

How much TD are you using per pound of oils? If you use too much it can cause certain problems, like chalkiness in the finished soap and/or weird marbeling imperfections for instance. I use 1 tsp ppo and have never had a problem. I get nice, white soaps at that level, barring that I'm not using a discoloring FO with lots of vanilla in it. If the amount of TD you are using is not much more than 1 tsp ppo, you may want to try a reputable soaping supplier to make sure you're getting the real deal.

I add it to the oil and SB the heck out of it , wait 5 minutes and hit it again with the SB . So far so good .
