Hi,

Just curious about how to get swirls in soap? I was checking out the photo gallery here and many ppl have really worked hard to make their soap look unique and pretty.

Cheers

There are several methods. I myself have had quite a lot of trouble with the technique, though I think a good one for beginners to try is the Celine Swirl. Here is a video that describes how to do this kind of swirl: [ame]http://youtu.be/7CepZH1ZWmg[/ame]

Here is another tutorial on how to do an "in the pot" swirl from the Soap Queen: http://www.soapqueen.com/bath-and-body-tutorials/cold-process-soap/a-palm-free-in-the-pot-swirl/

Another technique some use is to pour two or more colors into a mold and stir it around with a chopstick (not too much, but enough to swirl the soap).

It's a hard trick to master because after soap reaches trace, it quickly hardens, and it is hard to swirl at that point. I have yet to finesse an in-the-pot swirl or to move quickly enough to swirl in the mold.

You can also spoon your soap into the mold in dollops and it will look kind of swirled, too.
