Hi,

Can anyone guide me on stearic acid proportions in a whipped cream soap?

My husband does not like using synthetic shaving creams and has asked me to try my hand at making some whipped cream or shaving cream for him. I ve found a couple of recipes and tutorials but I would like to understand the stearic acid proportions so I can make a bigger or a smaller batch.

One tutorial put 2 oz in a total of 14.6 oz fats and 3.1 oz lye
One tutorial suggested putting 50% stearic acid to make a fluffly cream soap.

I am confused and would appreciate some help and feedback

Thanks
HC

The first thing I would recommend is join the Cream Soap Group on Yahoo there is a lot of great information there.

When creating a shaving soap recipe you need to make sure that total stearic is over 50%.... do a quick search on shaving soaps and there are a couple of really good recent threads about this subject that can be applied to cream soap. Something to keep in mind is that cream soap takes a minimum of 3 months to cure/rot. The longer the better.....
