i remember reading that somewhere. I'm about to do HP and I had an oven nightmare the last time! I want to avoid oils that may give me a problem!
?? You Hot Process Oven Process, or are you thinking of CPOP? (Cold Process Oven Process)Hpop
Sugar can cause overheating for sure.Could that have been the issue?
The main reason you want to oven process is to ensure full gel and faster saponification. Once it reaches full gel and is saponified, it's done, and just needs to start cooling down. Temp at time of trace can effect that, as if it's warmer, it will gel faster, meaning it will sapnify faster. Also, does degree of trace effect how long the oven time is?
Okay, yeah, that's CPOP. It's CP that you are oven processing for the heat.HP in the oven. Still watching!!
So, I was correct in calling it HPOP, or not? So much terminology! You didn't. HP in a SS pot in the oven is quite an acceptable method. Some use a crockpot, some use a pot in the oven, some use a microwave.

You were right. Sorry *I* was confused. I didn't realize it was in a POT in the oven. My apologies. LOLSo, I was correct in calling it HPOP, or not? So much terminology!
