Softness in soap?

What causes it to be to soft after 24 hours? We used CO Oo shortening lye an

It would depend on how much of each you used and if you gelled your soap. Also on how much liquid you use. High OO recipes will remain softer longer to umold.

It is not uncommon, as Shari mentioned there are several factors that can keep a soap softer, how thick your trace was, temperature, fo's etc. Don't stress it and leave it in the mold for a couple of days. Most soft soap will harden given enough time. After getting more batches under your belt you will begin to recognize the variables.
Soap does what soap does, and many times it is not what you want...
