Sodium lactate in store

Hi All,

Was wondering if anyone knows where you could find sodium lactate in a store? Want to use it to make something this week and didn't want to wait on shipping. Any recommendations would be appreciated.

Unfortunately I'm all the way across the country in Ontario. New Directions Aromatocs is close to me but they don't seem to sell. I guess I may just have to order and wait. Thanks!

This place in Brampton says they carry it ("We are Open to the Public!"), but Ontario is so large, I don't know if it is close to you or not. Also, I see it listed on Amazon.ca, but for quite a bit more money; however, maybe their shipping would be quicker than a small-business ingredient supplier? Good luck!

Candora is about 2 hours away from where I am. I actually did a mini road trip 2 weeks ago and made sure to include that as a stop! I wish I realised that I needed it then.

The closest supply I have to me is a four hour drive one way so I know how you feel.

Have you thought about subbing sugar? You can substitute sugar serum (1:1 mix used at twice the amount calculated for SL)

Salt is the one that acts kind of like sodium lactate. Yes, it can be table salt. It does harden the soap but it doesn't behave the same way as sodium lactate. Not exactly. Sodium lactate can also be used in other things. Sugar will give you more bubbles. It will also produce more heat so it can cause volcano. I suggest googling the amounts and when to add it to your mix.

As noted by @MelissaG, it seems you are confusing sugar and salt. Table salt (sodium chloride) and sodium lactate will both assist with hardening the soap. Sugar actually makes it more soluble, and thus increases bubbles.
