Please post your best tips here that include:
1) pictures to illustrate tips for what you’re doing,
2) and/or a link to illustrate a product,
3) and/or a link to a video of a technique,
4) and/or a link to a webpage with information for deeper learning.

So many genius hacks from people I admire are buried in threads where they are hard to find. Moreover, outstanding tips are often explained, but word-only posts are difficult to understand, especially for readers who have only begun their journey into soap making.

Off the top of my head, examples of what I’d like to see include @AliOop’s method for CPOP, complete with box, heating pad type and placement, and hole for the cord, @Tammyfarms method for lining a silicone mold to prevent heat rash and make mold release easier, swirl techniques with the pattern illustrated on paper, and recipe tips where we include links to @DeeAnna’s scientific explanations for why they work. Follow-up questions are encouraged.

I will post an example later today, but I think you get the general idea. Pictures, illustrations and links, please! 😊

If you want this thread to remain useful for the long haul, you should discuss this with the mods to see if they could do something like create a sticky thread.

If you leave this discussion as a regular thread, as it is now, I guarantee it will eventually fade into the background, just like many good threads I can recall. That's one of the reasons why I started the Soapy Stuff section on my business website -- to archive information I've written that would otherwise be difficult to find.

My hack is simple. I bought this Mylar https://a.co/d/g9QUXaz and cut it to fit the bottom of my silicone mold. It really helps release the soap from the firmer silicone molds. I do not know if it helps preventing silicone rash.
I included two pictures because the picture with the Mylar outside of the mold looks much smaller than the mold. Second picture shows they are the same size.
ETA: I did not come up with this, it was an idea someone else posted but unfortunately I can’t remember who.
